My hubby is going on 2 years from NOT smoking, yeah!.... He is still using Nicotine tablets but he cuts them into four small peace and it beats smoking 2 -3 packs a day.

I have not smoked for quite some time now. I quit cold turkey. And yes, it was long before I had any kidney trouble. Two years is a darn good start. Now, see if you can ween him off of the tablets. Should not be too difficult.
