Yes, folks, I like all the rest of you, do like steak. But we all have to be conscious of how much of the fattier meats we consume, as that is saturated fat. For me, a hamburger is a rare treat. The other thing is that you don't need to entirely limit yourself to turkey, chicken and fish, which, if you ate them all the time would have a tendency to get a little boring. First, I would like to tell you that if you choose your beef wisely, yes, you can still have some steak. Yes, I like a strip steak once in awhile--I do limit myself to three or four ounces for a meal, but then, I am eating six meals per day. Also, understand I do not do this very often. So, what can a person do about watching the saturated fat in beef? Well, I can tell you what I do and maybe it will help. Most of the time, instead of buying the more delicious cuts of beef, I improve the ones that maybe are not as good, but they have potential. An example of this would be sirloin steak. It is a leaner cut of beef than a t-bone or filet, but I have found that if you make use of some of the store-bought marinades, sirloin can be made to be pretty tasty. READ THE LABEL!! If it has too much sugar and you can't find one that doesn't, make your own. I have found more than one brand of Lime and Garlic Marinade that are very good. Marinate it. Then, just grill it! I am sure that there are other types of meat that you could do this with--round steak comes to mind as being lean. Just think about it. The possibilities are out there.
