Hello, I have been recently added to the lung transplant list for a double lung transplant, as long as i qualify. I have been told that I may need to receive a bone marrow transplant in order to qualify for the lung transplant. Has anyone else had a bone marrow transplant? if so could you pleas give me some insight on the process, the procedure, the pain, and the cautions fallowing the procedure. Thank you all. any thing any one has to say would be very helpful. |

Hi John, Here are some links to info on bone marrow transplants. I hope they are of some help: http://www.marrow.org/ http://www.bonemarrow.org/ http://www.bmdw.org/ I think a couple of people on the site have had bone marrow transplants. If you don't receive a response within a few days, perhaps you may want to post it on another Forum that will catch a lot of attention. I hope you qualify for your lung transplant. All the best, Meagan

Hi John Great question! We had a bone marrow (stem cell forum ) three years ago and only two people joined. I think a blog would be a great start and I am glad that you created this. Is your center saying that you will need a bone marrow transplant along with your lung transplant? I have read many years ago that sometimes patients would undergo a bone marrow with the lung donor blood which is an awesome procedure. I believe this might be done around the same time as the double lung transplant. Please tell us what your doctors have suggested. Find out what kind of bone marrow transplant you might have. Wishing you well Rise'
