Ok...so after doing a tiny *coughs, All of my spare time* looking online to reduce my creatinine levels and improve kidney function....I came across this... http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.2042-7158.1997.tb06099.x/abstract also read so info on Nettle leaf tea, that also helps lower all kinds of blood levels. And lastly i was recommended solidago.....its a kidney tonic. What do you guys think? worth ago?

I didn't read the link, but you need to beware of the natural diuretic properties of many of these so called "kidney tonics". Basically you would be adding a med. I would talk to your center and see what they think. I think that there are a lot of potential ways to hurt your transplant with this stuff, especially since you don't know what the fillers are. Cora

I am with Cora , anything you put in the body without any consult can and may cause damage. It could be good but check with your TX center.

Hi megw, wow the chitosan treatment too good to be true (and maybe is?). My biggest suspicion is that it was written in '97 but I haven't heard of it since, so maybe the results weren't repeatable, or the effect was transient? I did a quick look, here are some known safety concerns: http://www.med.nyu.edu/content?ChunkIID=21656#P5 Here's a clinical trial they did re. Phosphate Binding of Chitosan Chewing Gum: http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01341691 Elsewhere I found "In pharmaceutical manufacturing, chitosan is used as a filler in tablets". I guess it shouldn't be too harmful if it's used this way. I've heard of nettle tea, parsley tea, and a pineapple blended whole. I never tried any of these. I did try a herbal concoction from http://www.kundankidneycare.com/ while on dialysis. I took it exactly as prescribed but had no significant effect on anything except anemia which improved slightly. I researched the herbs in the concoction. My notes are here: https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1ovXviaO_IARKNQN-A0gYR_p8w8Z5LCS5yvVGUV7C6r8. There were about 16 herbs in total. In theory, some of the herbs should have been helpful, perhaps in greater dosage. Anyways if you do try anything, write here again to report your results, either good, neutral or bad! This stuff has always interested me. I would love to hear how it affected you!

I also tried http://www.kundankidneycare.com/ months ago, but it just improved my hemoglobin a bit. I guess that the product works more for people with kidney problems related to diabetes and high blood pressure. Currently while on Peritoneal I'm taking http://www.kibowbiotech.com/kidney_bowel.php which has improved my health overall. The product doesnt replace dialysis, but it feels you feel normal. It also works if you havent reached the dialysis stage, preventing you to have to go on it quickly. They're also working on improve their product up to the stage that dialysis wont be needed, who knows how long will that take them. About Chinosa, I have been reading about it and seems great. Just ordered my own pills! I'm not only interested in that it lowers creatinine, but also that absorbs cholesterol, heals gastritis and protects the liver |

Ayurvedic or any other indian medicine does not improve the kidney function.

Kibowl is not ayurveda, its some scientifically proved. It works with lactobacyls and other bacteria that absorb part of the creatinine and other toxics while they're in your interior. Chinosa has been proved to work too. This two arent offering a miraculous healing to go off dialysis, but they definitely improve health. Think what you want |

Can you tell me how has it worked for you Bala? Could you explain me more about the activated charcoal, for how long you've been using it and such? |

I used activated charcoal to purify a plating solution of gold cyanide (deadly poison) to remove organic molecules. I'd really get my doctors to show me documentation of testing on people (double blind, medical testing by doctors and published in a respectable technical journal) before I would consider using it. |
