I'm asking for a few prayers as well today. I have been unwell for just over a week with fevers, night sweats, harsh cough and headaches weight loss and fatigue. My labs are way our of whack at the moment. Being investigated for CMV, and I am off to hospital momentarily for more tests. On top of this yesterday I heard that my close friend Mo was in a head on collision with 2 of her sons this past week. The boys will likely survive although at this point it is not known what sort of injuries they will have to deal with. Mo has not regained consciousness, and her chest was crushed. It is unlikely that she will survive. Her injuries are catastrophic. Her parents are in their late 80's and are like 2nd parents to me. Her husband called my yesterday to let me know they had signed all the paperwork for organ donation. Please pray for my friends. They are living a nightmare at the moment, and I can't even go to help out.

Well, I am sending prayers out to you and your friends. Your labs will be out of whack if you have anything close to CMV. Good luck in solving that dilemma. As far as your friends are concerned, I am so sorry for your (and their) loss. I am praying that by some miracle, she comes out of it okay. Lord knows that good friends are hard to come by. God Bless

Hi to my wonderful friends, Just back late last night from the TX clinic in Vancouver. Slew of tests including a liver biopsy. They do not know what is going on. They have ruled out CMV, PCP, a blocked duct, or rejection.......actually all the diagnostics have been negative. But my bloodwork is still way out of line for the first time since my surgery. I was put on Septra (Sulfa drug) and my fever is down, and cough a little better, although still have night sweats and fatigue They just don't know what they are treating. I will have labs done 3x per week, and once my Septra is gone if I am still sick, they will want me back at the clinic in 2 weeks. It will be challenging as it is right in the middle of the Olympics and hotel rooms are booked right up and 3 times the normal price. Oh well, will deal with that if the situation arises. My girl friend is still in a coma, so a final decision has not been made. Her 2 sons are making a remarkable recovery though. Thanks for you care and support. Much Love Diane

Hi Diane, Glad you're back. This is a strange one. After all those tests, they still can't figure out what's wrong. I have been on Septra, three times per week since my transplant almost two years ago. Sorry the news isn't good about your friend. But happy to hear her sons are recovering. I will continue to pray for all of them. I hope you will be able to get accommodations during the Olympics if you do have to go back to your centre. Feel better. Love, Meagan

Diane: I am so sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. I am also sorry to hear about your friend and her sons. What a terrible thing to go through. It is good news that the boys are recovering. My prayer is that through organ donation her family will heal and be able to go on with their lives. I will be praying for you. The good news is that your transplant seems stable. Now they just have to figure out why your blood work is whacky. Our bodies do some weird and wild things. I remember when I was pregnant. My liver and kidney function was off the charts. No one could figure out why. As soon as Sammy was born, things went back to normal. No one ever did say what the problem was. Just weird stuff. I will pray that yours will just go away too. Please keep us up to date. I am sorry it has taken me so long to post, but life has been really busy for me post transplant. Hopefully, I will get caught up on my Tx Buddies friends this week. I still pray for all of you everyday. It's just been hard to get to the site and post. God Bless!

Thanks Karen, and Thanks to everyone else for their thoughts. My bloodwork is still quite out of line, but my levels are at least slowly dropping. We have no idea why. I was treated with Septra, but turns out that what was initially thought to be the problem was not. Never the less, the drug has stopped the fevers. Likely I will never know what the problem was, but hopefully this will just be one little blip. My girlfriend has actually come out of her coma, but is only able to communicate by blinking. It is unknown how much brain damage she may have suffered. She has had a spinal injury at T6 so will be paralyzed from the nipple line down, and may only have use of 1 arm. Things are still sounding quite grim for her......however, last week it was hopeless, so she has beat the odds.....and we all know that miracles can happen.

Diane: That's good news that your fever is gone. Maybe your blood work is to follow. Maybe it was just some weird virus that messed up all your blood levels. I know that Jerry had some weird flu virus a few weeks ago. He was nauseous, had a headache, had joint pain, and couldn't get out of bed. He didn't feel good digestively for a week or so. He is finally feeling better, but it really knocked him down and he is not immunosuppressed like you. What a miracle about your girlfriend. I pray that she continues to make a remarkable recovery. Miracles do happen everyday!! I hope you feel better each day! God Bless!

Thanks so much for your prayers. My blood work is slowly dropping and as it does my energy goes up a notch. Yes, some things may never be explained, but I am just grateful to be here, and that this did not happen when I was away on my trip. I have not heard any news about my friend for a couple of days. I emailed her husband last night. I have been in regular contact with her parents, brother and husband. I want my contact with them to feel supportive and not a burden, and I know they are super busy. One son is home from hospital now and needs ongoing therapy, the other is still in hospital for a few more weeks, but doing well. My girl friend has a strong spirit. She is a vibrant, active, lovely person. If she survives this, and she has certainly beat the odds so far, she will likely be paraplegic, possibly a quad. Kelli, when I look at the photo of your new friend Liz, I know that it is possible for her to have quality of life again, and joy in her life. I will call her parents again tomorrow. Live life to the fullest in every moment. And just let the little things slide. Thanks for all of the support. Much Love Diane
