Don't be afraid to give your best to what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones tend to take care of themselves. ~ Dale Carnegie Share your favorite famous quote

Hey Risa! Very similar in nature to your quote, is a quote that a friend signs all of her emails with -- a quote attributed to Mother Theresa: "In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love..." Another friend has in her email signature a quote attributed to Ghandi: "Be the change you wish to see in the world..." And I always love Kelli's (eccoblue) Japanese proverb at the end of her posts: "Fall seven times, stand up eight." Love, Steve

I agree, Kelli... Kinda like making lemonade when life hands you lemons... And we all know people who can look at the best of situations with skepticsm or negativity and turn heaven into hell... And other people who show such hope and optimism, they can seem to see a silver lining in the darkest of clouds... Love, Steve

Here's some from my dad's book, Not So Brave. “There may be only one way to enter life, but there’s a whole lot of ways to leave it.” “The indifference of nature only applies to the physical world, not the spiritual world.” “Truth is only a point of view, with hypocrisy thrown in for spice.” “Donating life is the greatest and noblest gift of spiritual love that can be made.”

I have a framed saying on the wall at home... What I do today is important because I am exchanging a day of my life for it. It has no signature. My sister just gave me a bracelet that says... Nothing is worth more than this day. Another favorite I found searching on line to add to a letter to elementary school kids and families when I moved on to another job location... Without change, there would be no butterflies. ~unknown hugs and love, kathy

It may also be said that rational, industrious, useful human beings are divided into two classes: first, those whose work is work and whose pleasure is pleasure; and secondly, those whose work and pleasure are one...Fortune's favored children belong to the second class. Their life is a natural harmony. For them the working hours are never long enough. Each day is a holiday... ~ Winston Churchill compliments of Debra Lynn Dadd

"I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep." -- Robert Frost ** "I think the purpose of life is to be useful, to be responsible, to be honorable, to be compassionate. It is, after all, to matter: to count, to stand for something, to have made some difference that you lived at all." – Leo Rosten ** "It seems to me that people have vast potential. Most people can do extraordinary things if they have the confidence or take the risks. Yet most people don't. They sit in front of the telly and treat life as if it goes on forever." --Philip Adams ** "The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one." --Elbert Hubbard (1856 - 1915) ** "Challenges make you discover things about yourself that you never really knew. They're what make the instrument stretch — what makes you go beyond the norm." – Cicely Tyson When someone offers you a challenge, don’t think of all the reasons why you can't do it. Instead say, "Yes!" Then figure out how to get it done. -- Katherine Hudson Ol' Bob

People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don't even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child -- our own two eyes. All is a miracle. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

Spread love everywhere you go: first of all in your own house. Give love to your children, to your wife or husband, to a next door neighbor ... Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness; kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile, kindness in your warm greeting. ~ Mother Teresa

ATTITUDE by: Charles Swindoll The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude... I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes.

Conduct yourself in all matters, grand and public or small and domestic, in accordance with the laws of nature. Harmonizing your will with nature should be your utmost ideal. Where do you practice this ideal? In the particulars of your own daily life with its uniquely personal tasks and duties. When you carry out your tasks, such as taking a bath, do so, to the best of your ability, in harmony with nature. When you eat, do so, to the best of your ability, in harmony with nature, and so on. ~ Epictetus

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely, in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and shouting, "Holy Crap -- what a ride!!!" I don't know who said this quote first -- I got a beautiful little plaque from one of my nurses who said she thought of me when she saw it... I also have one about the moments that take your breath away... Love, Steve

Breathin' Steven... I love that quote! ... and I love many that I've seen here. This thread made me smile. On our walls at home there are three sayings and I do not know the authors: What I do today is important because I am exchanging a day of my life for it. Life is not measured by the number of breathes we take but by the number of moments that take our breath away. AND... with three daughters, the youngest turning 25 tomorrow... There are but two lasting things we can leave our children, one is roots and} the other is wings. hug and much love, kathy
