Dear Carrie and Trisha

Thank you so much for your compliments. I only share what I have learned and experienced. We are what we eat as the saying goes and when we are living with a chronic condition, we need all the power. Energy medicine and healthy eating are very important.

Here is something I bought that I am absolutely in love with. They are very small yoga balls designed to massage your back while you exercise

They were worth every penny. I think I might buy another pair.

Risa...NO WAY!! I have these!!!! Aren't they awesome? I have switched up the workout in the last two months to try to get rid of 12 pounds that I put on from emotional eating. I was trying to comfort myself during my dad's illness and death and sometimes I really fell off the wagon with the food. Now I have to work extra hard to get rid of the 12 pounds and I went back to my ball workout and my exercise bands. I love them both. The ball is funny for me because sometimes I do not feel like I'm doing much until the next day and then I feel the stretching and sometimes the soreness from it.....in a very good way. It is so relaxing yet stabilizing to my back. I have three herniated discs in the lower spine from an injury I suffered when I was 25 years old. Exercise for me has to be a careful and calculated series of movements or I'm looking at back surgery if I undo the stability I have managed to build up around the discs. Five years of land and aquatic therapy and the guidance of an insightful orthopedic surgeon spared me a spine fusion at a very young age. These yoga balls are very therapeutic. I use a bigger, bouncier one for core workouts which really packs a punch. It's a different kind of ball though. We have so much in common and a lot of the same likes. Very cool. How do you use your yoga balls?

Hi Carrie!

YES ! Energy Medicine is wonderful. I do the daily workout everyday and I also hold certain points. I also have had a pretty cold free winter. That is amazing for me because I have a 4yr old son who is a germ factory. Last year I was sick all the time. I know that energy medicine and eating well really have helped me stay well this year. I have Bronchiolitis Obliterans so any lower respiratory cold really debilitates me.
Risa has soooo much info. on the Energy Medicine section.

Hey Risa - do you think that those yoga balls would be something that I could do right now pre-transplant or are they too hard with my low lung function. I really like the balls too, but have never had my own. I used to use them in classes at the gym. Obviously, I don't go to the gym right now.

Trisha - I am so glad that energy medicine helps you too. I saw your post about the guy on TLC. I am going to try and watch. I do tapping too.

God Bless!
Karen

I'm kind of new and hadn't read much under this forum. I will have to do a little looking around on the Inner Source link and check this out. I would sure like to be cold-free like you, Carrie! I have asthma, but the only time it bothers me is if I get a respiratory infection - what an ordeal that is!

Appreciate the info, guys!

Hi Karen

I would not buy them at this time UNLESS you like the feeling of a deep massage. I follow the program in the video and then do a few other things. I put the bigger ball (which is not very big) on my back and do squats against the wall. I also use the smaller balls behind my chair. I do not think it is wise to do this every day as I am sore. I learned that three times a week is all I need. Perhaps in a few weeks, I can use them every day.

If you buy them I would use the smaller balls against your upper back (thoracic area of spine) and sit up straight on your chair. Move your body gently and feel it open up your lungs.

If you buy them and it is not what you like now, then after your tx, you can use them then.

Trisha

I just bought another yoga ball system and use the two purple balls for my chair to help keep my sitting straight while I massage my back. I also use the other two balls on my lower back and place the other two below my traps while lying down. OH MY !! Heavenly when I exercise. I always felt there was some way to exercise and massage your back. Years ago when I would do my situps, I would place my fists behind to my lower back and when I would come down to the bench, I would give myself a neuromuscular massage. Hard to explain without a picture. This system is great. I am addicted
