Because you are a very kind person. Ok perhaps tweak it a little bit.

I am a firm believer that what a person should do if they get a recipe from a magazine, cookbook, or whatever, is to make it according to the recipe the first time. If you get rave reviews, then there is no reason to "tweak." However, if you cook the recipe and it just kind of lacks something, then there might be a reason to experiment. If it lacks a flavor that you like, and that you think would help the recipe, by all means, try it, may be just a little. If that is good, you have solved the problem. If not, the next time you make it, try a little more. And for gosh sake, folks, taste things as you are making them!! There are two things that I think separates good cooks from great cooks. 1) A great cook is always tasting as they are creating that magical dish and 2) A great cook has a good knowledge of what they and their family likes as far as herbs and spices are concerned.m Just my 2 cents.

That's right Cisco. Also, everyone's taste buds are different, so it's important to taste the dish along the way and tweak it to compliment one's personal preferences.

I thought I saw you on chat today. I want to formally invite you to one of our chat sessions, either Saturday 2 PM CST, or Sunday 2 PM CST. We need to try to get more people to join us, and if you would like to discuss something like cooking and how to avoid using too much salt, it might be something interesting for people to check out. I am willing any time.

Thank you for the invite. Do I just log on to Transplantfriends Chat at the times specified? I'll check to see what we have in store for the weekend. Thanks, Jeff

Because I am on a special diet with all recipes that I have found, there is always an ingredient or two that I cannot have. I have learned to tweak most of the recipes to suit my needs.

Jeff, that is probably a topic that many people could stand to listen to, not just transplant patients. If you give me some advanced warning, I will see if I can get it posted here and on friends, so that others are aware. I might even twist our fearless leaders arm into putting it on Facebook. And if you can't do it this weekend, maybe we can schedule it for next weekend. I will have to check with the boss and make sure that we are going to be here, too. I would not want to schedule something only to find that I was going to miss out.

Cisco, I have to schedule it for another weekend due to schedule conflicts. Perhaps the 9th or the weekend of the 15th. Let's touch base offline. Thanks, Jeff

Sounds good. Will let you know how it sounds from this end. Also, we should try for a date so that we can adequately plan things out so that we can attempt to benefit as many folks as wish to be a part of the conversation. Rise, are you catching any of this?

Sounds like a plan Cisco. Perhaps come up with a list of questions to encourage the conversation to continue.

I found something that I mentioned on Transplant Friends. Quest Bars. You have to order them online. I have Peanut Butter Supreme and Almond / Vanilla bars. What is good about them? Although they have 20 grams of carbohydrate or a little more, all but 4-6 grams is fiber. This may not suit some folks, but for me, a very active person, it works. These bars also contain 20 grams of protein and 9 or 10 grams of fat, of which, only .5 to 1.5 grams are saturated fat. There are other flavors, too. One is a brownie and another a mixed berry. Just thought I would mention this, but you will have to check the website out yourself. They are offered on Yahoo, but if you look at the regular website, they are cheaper.

I am really liking those bars, let me tell you. I don't have to make anything, either. (I don't know how successful I would be with something like this anyway.)

Hi Cisco I am going to buy a few bars when I go shopping. What I use for ingredients works well for me. My blood glucose remains stable which is very important. The finished product taste like a brownie. With all of your cooking talent, I am surprised you have not created a Cisco Protein bar /cake.

While mine is not "stable," it never goes too high. I exercise too much for that to happen.

Thanksgiving Dinner Beef Roast, cooked on rotisserie, with rub and sauce Seven Layer Salad, Macaroni & Cheese Butternut Squash Green Bean Casserole Deviled Eggs Wine Cresent Rolls (soaks up the wine, LOL!!) Chocolate Trifle( ) I am making the meat and the trifle and I will probably be doing an assist on some of the other stuff. I am staying away from the Mac & Cheese, rolls, wine and the eggs because I like the trifle.
