Does anyone have any experience with the probiotic Florastor? I was started on it during my recent stay in the hospital because of all the diarrhea I was having and to improve my bowel health. My insurance does not cover it, and I have to make the decision whether it would be worth it to pay the expense to continue on it. I know each person is different, but it can help to hear other's experiences. Any comment is appreciated.

How much does it cost? Can you buy an over the counter probiotic that they recommend? My tx doctor gave me jarrowdolphilus in the ICU.

Not all probiotics are the same.

Hi Bobbie jo

I just looked this up.
This is an over the counter remedy
http://www.evitalhealth.com/Florastor_250mg.html

I might give this product a try if I have CDIFF because it treats for a specific organism. From what I have read it is not broad spectrum like the one that I am taking. I will look at this again.

Probiotics are very important to me and I would definitely put this on my important list. Remember many years ago, i mentioned that you ask your doctors about probiotics.

Thank you for looking into the probiotic for me. I do remember you mentioning the importance of probiotics. At that time though I asked my nurse coordinator about the general subject, and she told me to only get my probiotics from yogurt. However, when I was the hospital recently and called her assistant to ask about this one, I was given approval to take it. As far as cost, it was 22 dollars for a 10 day supply. Many hugs.
