Is it safe to eat dried meats such as cured salamis. i also read on the health tips not to consume refrigerated smoked fish such as smoked salmon. is it true that these foods should be avoided for a transplanted person? Thanks David |

Hi David Welcome I would not eat them because of the nitrates and smoked first has so much salt and probably other unwanted ingredients. Join our transplant social on http://transplantfriends.com

The only food my TX Center said not to eat was suchi or raw fish and meat. Thus, I eat anything and love deli meats. As Hostess Rise and others have said, processed foods have undesirable ingredients and reduced natural desired nutrients. I love smoked salmon, but again vary your diet to get needed nutrients. |

Deli meats are heavily processed and full of sodium. These are not something we should be eating.

My TX team recommends not eating deli foods such as ham, cheese, salami etc and chicken salad, tuna salad and such. These class of foods spoil easily and cold cuts are put through a slicing machine which is supposed to be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized but it is up to you.
