My transplant team told me to avoid soft-serve ice cream.

But what about those new self-service soft-serve frozen yogurt places like Orange Leaf? Is that stuff safe?

The products may be "safe", however people serving themselves sometimes do not follow "good-safe-food-handling-rules", such as tasting with your fingers directly from the item, or returning stuff from your plate to the server (such as in salad bars), not using a clean plate...etc.
My tx team recommends not eating raw foods outside the home as those foods should be thoroughly washed before consumed by us.
I have followed those rules since my tx. So I don't eat salads or self serve foods except at home. And wash your hand frequently, certainly before eating and avoid touching your mouth, eyes, ears specially during flu season, always carry with you hand sanitizer.
