I just returned from a trip to Las Vegas and managed to get scanned and groped. Tip...if you want to be groped, just leave something in your pocket for the scan to pick up.

Actually, it was not that bad - any modesty that I may have had went out the door long ago (wrapped in a hospital gown).

....if you can believe them:

Q. What has TSA done to protect my privacy?
A. TSA has implemented strict measures to protect passenger privacy, which is ensured through the anonymity of the image. A remotely located officer views the image and does not see the passenger, and the officer assisting the passenger cannot view the image. The image cannot be stored, transmitted or printed, and is deleted immediately once viewed. Additionally, there is a privacy algorithm applied to blur the image.

We flew roundtrip the week after Thanksgiving and did NOT get scanned or patted down. They were scanning random people and patting down very few.

My son and his family just got back from Disneyworld and they said they breezed through Customs - no problems.

I did see something online about a man with bladder cancer getting rough treatment which was just awful. He asked them to be careful of his urine bag but they were not and he ended up with urine all over himself poor thing.

I personally have to admit, as others might, the airways are safer since Homeland Security was placed into service.

This is a completely different world we live in, now, like it or not.

Stay safe and God Bless

I'm all for safety and security, but, I have an ICD (defibrulator), so I'm not supposed to walk through the metal detectors. This means I am always redirected to the side for a "pat down". "Arms out, palms up...check the bottom of my feet..." Most of my experiences have been Ok. That being said, my husband and I both work in a prison and I feel a little like I'm on the "wrong side" during a "pat down"! LOL

We leave for a cruise in two weeks, so I'm already pre-planning the appropriate clothes and shoes!

great cartoon !
now if the officer seeing the scan cant see the person that is actually being scanned ...whats the point ? and how do any of know if the images are not filed away on some secret "codeword" hard drive some where?
As far as the pat downs go ....first I didn't know I could get this done for free by a total stranger and secondly if you really want to get someone back tell the TSA agent they were acting "funny" before getting in line .......

In my most recent airport experience, I managed to set off the alarm twice and was about to be patted down before I realized that the stuff that is holding my new liver in place was the cause.

Fortunately, my transplant clinic had provided me with small laminated card that IDs me as a transplant clinic. I would suggest that others carry it with them, if they have one.

Hi Mohan,

I am curious to know what holds our transplanted livers in place. I know a heart isn't just hanging there and that part of the old heart is left in and the new heart attached.

Thanks!

I don't know what holds the liver in place but I found this quite interesting:

"The liver is the body's largest internal organ, weighing about 3 pounds in adults. It is located below the diaphragm on the right side of the abdomen."
