According to WebMD, exercise should play an important role in your life if you have type 2 diabetes. This is because exercise helps to manage type 2 diabetes. By controlling diet, exercise and medications (when prescribed) will help to control weight and blood sugar. Exercise helps control type 2 in the following ways:
1) Improves the body's use of insulin
2) Burns excess body fat, helping decrease weight
3) Improves muscle strength
4) Lowers blood pressure
5) Helps to protect the heart and blood vessels from disease by lowering LDL and increasing HDL
6) Improves blood circulation, reducing risk of heart disease
7) Improves bone density
8) Increases energy level and enhances work capacity
9) Reduces stress, promotes relaxation and releases tension and anxiety
