P.S. This news article was forwarded to me, by my heart transplant pal Howard Little of Oklahoma. Howard is 21yrs out with his heart transplant, thanks to his wonderful donor.

What a wonderful,moving story.......
I am always touched by a story of a recipient, equally moved when a donor family shares their story.
God bless their hearts, how difficult it must be when one is grieving and the same time deciding organ donation.
I will share this story to our family and friends all the relatives especially the young ones........
how valuable GIFT OF LIFE and organ donation is!
A thought just came to my mind when I was reading this, can we still be organ donors as TX recipients?
I am an organ donor since way before I had kidney failure......so I wonder if I can re-register?

Yes, LouLou, you can still donate your organs. Several months ago, a transplanted heart was re-transplanted, due to the death of the original recipient in California. I have researched and found the outcome. http://www.foxnews.com/printer_friendly_wires/2007May07/0,4675,UsedHeart,00.html . I carry a Organ Donor card, myself.

I couldn't get the link to come up on the post above. Maybe this one will post correctly.

I don't have an organ donor card, but I think it is on my drivers license.
but I read through Gift of Hope that we need to re-register.
I wonder even when they harvest the organs from a deceased person, do they preserve well the body so, it won't be noticeable that they have taken out the good organs?
