FYI Kristen,

After 18yrs, I would dearly love to meet my heart donor's family there in Florida, if only to show to them, how appreciative I am for my extended life. I have tried my very best to make these added years account for something positive. I actually feel love pouring out of every pore of my skin for all who enter my life. This past 18yrs plus most of my life has been a glorious ride, by golly. I am certainly not bashful with the word Love , as many folks are.

I am not the type of person to sit around in my comfortable lit'l "Comfort Zone" because I love to meet as many folks as I can and share stories with them. I am what you would refer to as a "People Person". I guess I'm kinda' like Will Rogers and his famous quote: "I have never met a person that I didn't like". (Oh well, maybe a few) <smile>

Well then Bob....You would get along just fine with my husband. He doesn't know a stranger, as we say to him and, he's never met an ugly woman either! ha ha.
I'm not the chatty one in the family...but it doesn't seem that way on here. I guess I get my talking out with you guys instead. I'm so thankful for you all.
Bob, I am STILL listening to the music on your website over and over.
This family has always been big into music....but when Sarah died, I couldn't listen to music anymore. Gradually, I now can listen to "sad" sounding songs at home....but in the car I have to have silence now.
So many things change when death comes....things one would never
have guessed unless it happens to you.

Well, you started a new thread....so I guess I get to post a new picture
of Sarah today! yay!

Lovely pic of Sarah. I can see why you are so very proud of her. As for that music on my webpage, if you will click onto the "Arts" link at the very top of this page, you can hear me singing one of my own songs, composed by me for my oldest daughter Cindy. She is now 48yrs old. You might even like some of my artwork amongst the other artwork by others on this site. Hope you like my song, lit'l lady. Risa was gracious enough to create this webpage for us. Please scroll down to the bottom of this page.

Enjoy your evening

Kristen, Sarah is absolutely beautiful~~~WOW....thank you so much for sharing another pic of her. I am going to have to find some of Joe to post....but he was 'pre digital' photo days and I have to get around to scanning a bunch of them into the computer, so I can share them.

Bob, I haven't known you for the last 18 years, but the years that I have known you, you are definitely one of the most cheerful and positive people I know....I am so thankful for you in my life.

We would love to see some various pics of Joe. Bring 'em on as soon as you can. OK?

I'd love to see more pictures and hear more about Joe. My counselor advised me to scan in all of the old pictures of Sarah that aren't on the computer. My area gets a lot of hurricanes and I was anxious about losing Sarah's things. Of course, I haven't gotten around to it yet, but it's on the list.
Bob, I went to the "art" section and enjoyed your music and art and all of the others soooo much. That's an awesome section I hadn't even gotten around to yet. This whole website is just done so well. and easy to navigate, too. Risa, is that your doing? Good job!
Bob, do you still sing and play music? do artwork? You have many talents.
Sarah and I took guitar lessons together for while...what a treasured memory. and I taught her some piano here at the house.

Kristen, as for staying up late at night, Janet and I have swapped many late hour emails in the past. My final 22yrs driving over-the-road when I was still in the trucking industry before retirement, I most times drove all night long. Still haven't trained my system to live normal hours, by golly.

I still dabble a bit in pickin' my guitar, sketching and singin' to folks in public. I mostly sketch on restaurant paper napkins such as the one posted here.

....and singin' to my friends at times.

Many times through the week, I can be seen at the Magnolia Diner with my laptop, corresponding with my pals worldwide.

I keep on being drawn back to this Donor thread like a moth to a flame. I love it, by golly.

Kristen, dear lady, your coming forth, joining this site and sharing your stories about your beloved daughter
Sarah, has made us all very happy. I am sure that our dear friends Donor Mom Janet and young Alex's Granny Margot love your company on this thread.

Did you know?

Sarah/Elizabeth is mentioned in the Holy Bible. The name Sarah is a baby girl name. The name Sarah comes from the Hebrew origin. In Hebrew The meaning of the name Sarah is: Princess. In the Bible, Sarah was the wife of Abraham and mother of Isaac. Her name was originally Sarai (quarrelsome), but God commanded that her name be changed to Sarah before the birth of her son.

Very interesting......Sarah = Princess

Bob, Don't know if you recall that I posted, or sent you an email while you were in the hospital recently that you are on my 'Bucket List'....if you have not seen the movie, you really NEED to watch it. I just saw it for the first time recently and it really touched my heart. BUT....anyway, where was I going with this??? OH....yes, we do spend many nights....LATE NIGHTS......corresponding....good that you and I have never gotten to the instant messenger thing.....I can really get carried away with that one....until all hours of the night....morning!!!

Kristen, yes, I could not sleep the night before, and only got an hour's sleep, so last night, I decided that I was staying up late, so that I slept when I went to bed. I didn't have to work today, so I stayed up until 4 am. Only mistake I made was sending my hubby a note in the middle of the night 3:30 am....and shared a message with him....so of course when he got to work this morning, he got the email and then called to ask me HOW LATE WERE YOU UP??? I said...oh, it was only 4 am...LOL. So, tonight I already went to bed, he was snoring so loud, I couldn't lay still let alone fall asleep, so here I am wearing myself out so that I can fall right off to sleep when I go back to bed. I used to work all kinds of crazy hours at my former job, and even after 10 years of not being there, I still don't sleep normal hours. I try to, so that I can get up for work, but some nights it just doesn't work... Good to see you are an early riser....way too early for me!!!

Well, I have to get Jamison around for school and on the bus by 7:30 am....so I'm up by 6:30.
and I look forward to bedtime all day! AAaahhhhh, the escape of sleep! I'm usually in bed before 9. but I have to take some PM's to quiet my mind first.

I wonder if I should write a card to Sarah's other organ recipients and tell them about this wonderful site? Even if they don't want to listen to me ramble on about Sarah....they would find all of the information about the recipient end of it very interesting and helpful......and therapeutic. What do you think? They all seem very nice from what I can gather so far.

I have plenty of idle time to spare, so I have been checking these various threads on the Compassionate Donor Families - Remembrance section every few hours all weekend. I just can't get enough of these wonderful comments on these most exciting threads.

Hope you all had a great weekend, now hurry back. OK?

Sorry about that, Bob!
No, I haven't been busy. I had a sad, rough week-end and I didn't want to bring you all down with me. Grief is like waves.....it comes and then gives you a breather...then it comes and knocks you back under.

If I get quiet....it' s not that I'm busy....because I seldom leave the house now. It's because I'm feeling too sad. I'm not the type to fake it either.

I did try out the live chat this afternoon. Ever do that? I enjoyed "meeting" Andy from England and we had a nice conversation. I thought it would be very busy on there...but most of the time it was just him and I!

Ok, I made it thru another day and I get to go to bed now. Aahhhh...sleep.

Night,

Andy is a very good (Cyber) friend of mine. He even places a phone call to me from time to time(UK to Texas). I love his British accent.

We are all trying our best to assist you and pull you out of your low feeling moments, lit'l lady. Brighter days are ahead, I'm sure. Yes, and I understand how you feel. Been there and done that, not quite to the extent of yours, though. You have but one life to live. Please don't wile it away on total remembrance of you sweet daughter Sarah. She would want you to go on with your life in a normal manner. Janet has done quite well with her mourning situation about Joe. I know that you are both deeply hurt. Please consider your other loved ones in your life, Kristen.

I feel that I can discuss this with you openly.

God Bless and love you....

Hi Kristen,

We are doing just fine over here in Texas. Darlene and I have been sitting out on our front porch deck admiring our new RV canopy cover, installed just yesterday.

I've been wanting one of these for the past 14yrs. Finally got enough $$$$$ to have in installed. Still need to add a few panels of aluminum siding the each side. Will do this within the next week.

I'm kinda' down in my back, due to a pulled muscle but this will pass very soon. I try to do more than I should at times, lifting, squatting and other things. My sweetie Darlene is always scolding me for this, only 'cause she loves me, by golly. She has just returned from getting her hair permed. Lookin' sharp !!

I'm always lookin' forward to hearing from you and the others on this thread. You'all have certainly spoiled me with your wonderful, informative comments. Do me a favor, lit'l lady. Please jump off that sofa and run around the block a few times.

Heck !! I would have a tough time doing that myself with this hurtin' back, by golly.

My love to all of your family.

Ol' Bob

I am feeling really grouchy right this minute....I read this post from you Bob....and I am going to go put my tennis shoes on and get my butt off the couch and go for a walk. I swear!

Thank you!

(RV looks nice. My neighbor has one just like it. We were concerned at first because we thought the first time a hurricane comes thru...it will land on our house. But....it held tight through several strong hurricanes with no trouble at all)

ok, I'm off!

Kristen, we stayed in our travel trailer the night that Hurricane Ike came through with winds in excess of 80mph. Our faith led us through this terrible storm. Had a few big tree limbs fall nearby but no damage to our lit'l castle. Winds were really scary.

Glad to hear that you're going for a walk, lit'l lady. Try to do it more often. OK?

My sweetie Darlene even sends her love to you. She's in the kitchen at this moment preparing some chili dogs for dinner. Yum-Yum !!! (will be chewing on the TUMS this evening but I truly love chili dogs).

Andy, I would call you in the same manner but I'm not too swift with these various ways of communicating on the 'Net except for straight emails, even though I am also not too swift at typing. All of my typing is being done with the ol' "Hunt & Peck" method with 2 fingers.

Would you like to hear about the scholarship in Sarah's name? I had to go up to the High School today for a meeting about it. I haven't set foot in there all year because it's just too painful. It's her Senior year. But today I had to because it's time for the seniors to write their applications if they want to try for the scholarship.....
These are the some of the qualities we treasure in Sarah and want others to hold close to their hearts....

The recipient of the Sarah Memorial Scholarship should be humble about her many strengths, yet open to suggestion when looking to overcome obstacles. He or she should be willing to see the goodness in others from all walks of life and individualistic in the approach toward friendships. He or she should possess a strong sense of self and be enthusiastic about the wonder of the road ahead.

Sorry I have been gone for a couple of days and missed all of this good stuff. Kristen, I would love to hear about Sarah's Scholarship....please fill us in. We do a scholarship in memory of Joe each year also, ever since what would've been his Junior year. 1998....wow....ten years going on 11. I didn't think it was that long...but we keep on doing it. We usually have two recipients..sometimes one or three, depending on the year....and who applies. But it is a 'good thing' to do in their memory and it is always good to go and do it each year. I did miss it last year for the first time. I asked my sister in law to go in my place...I was a bit depressed that week, and felt that she would appreciate it so much more than I would. And, besides her son was going to receive the one scholarship and she didn't know early enough and did not get a chance to reserve a place for herself. SOOOO....I missed my nephew getting the award...but his mom was able to be there to see him, and that was good enough for me.....

Oh, I didn't know Joe had a scholarship! Awesome! Is it through a certain club at the school or just a general scholarship for seniors that apply? They set Sarah's up through the Jr. Optimist Club at the high school because she was a member of that. Yesterday at the meeting I said, "Since it's Sarah's class 2009 graduating this year, can't I just pick her friends to win it?!!!!" ha ha. I don't think that's how it works....but we'll see. I'll get my vote! Do you help pick the winners, Janet? Do they write an essay or???
