......what a difference a year makes ! I rec'd this message from our dear friend Janet: "This is a picture of another cyber friend and myself last year and this year....she didn't recognize me when I walked up to her....kind of nice to have a 'disguise' for awhile. I have lost 120 lbs so far...so here I am now and then, two months before I started to lose weight." OMG!! Janet, you look great !! Ol' Bob

Rise and Kristin, THANK YOU.....for your sweet words...I appreciate them so much...now I have to get busy and try out that face lift thing that I have...just have my brother living with us right now, and I really didn't need a guy making fun of me while I used it....but I guess I will have to start using it and seeing if it works while I am laid up with the knee replacement. BOB.....you are the best...I don't know why I can't resize pictures to fit where they should....drives me nutty...but you do such a great job for me...I love you for it.

Karen, THANK YOU...you are all making me feel so good today...on the hardest week of the year for our family...THANK YOU....and yes, the knee is scheduled for 1:30 tomorrow afternoon....so, I head to the hospital right before noon. I know it doesn't compare to all of you getting a transplant, but it will give me a better quality of life............and I am looking forward to it. I will post as soon as I can get to my computer.

But Janet you are getting a transplant ... a knee transplant. My husband keeps referring to his possible knee replacement as a knee transplant. You look amazing. Congratulations on your weight loss. How did you do it?

Meagan, I guess you are right....except ours will be artifical....I cannot imagine being where all of you are. But anyway...thank you on the weight loss, and as many have said, I cheated....but I really don't feel as though it was cheating. I did something for myself that I would do over again, if I had to. I had gastric bypass surgery last Oct. 17th. It was not the easy way out as some might think, I was really sick for several months until we figured out what was going on. So, I lost a lot of weight early on, faster than I should've but it was all good in the end. Now I am struggling with 20 more lbs. just hope I can do it, but I will be happy if I stop here and stay here...so, all is good with it. Regardless of what people say about it being the 'easy way out', but it is a life time change, something that you cannot change once it is done, you are 'stuck with it'. I can't eat alot of the things that I loved....chocolate cake, fudge, candy, etc. But I can eat a bite or two of it, and it is so true what they say, that the first bite or two is the best. After that, I either quit or get sick, so it has helped me greatly. And I would recommend it for anyone who is in my position...plus I got my knee replacement six years earlier than they were going to do it when I was overweight.....so, it was worth it.

Hi Janet, You look GREAT! I hope that you feel as good as you look. Best of luck with your surgery tomorrow. I will be thinking about you. This week must be so bittersweet for you. Getting the new knee you need so much, but also feeling the loss of Joe even more than usual. You are a special lady, and I know we all look forward to an update as soon as you feel able to write. You and Joe are both in my prayers. Love, Deb

Deb, thank you so much for being so kind. I appreciate all of the thoughts and prayers...they are so important to making it through something like this. I will try to update all as soon as I can find a computer to do that.

They cancelled my knee replacement surgery about 5 minutes before I was to go in. The anesthesiologist refused to put me under (I am sure in light of the Michael Jackson thing). My EKG from the beginning of the month showed a big difference from the one they did last year before my surgery in October. So, they were trying to figure out why. I went to my family doctor and she was not in this week, so I saw someone else, and she thought the difference was from losing 120 lbs....but the cardiologist they called in today says NO....so, I have to go for a stress test tomorrow morning, and see the cardiologist and decide if it is ok, or not. They are looking at it thinking that I may have had a 'silent' heartattack, or possibly have a small blockage. So, after the results are in on the test tomorrow, then we will go from there. They just didn't want to risk it without a definite answer. Needless to say, I am really disappointed, I was hoping it would be all over by now....now I just have to hurry up and wait again. And that is that for today....So, I will let you know when it is rescheduled. Love ya, Janet

Thanks Rise, I am trying hard to relax, but when you think you are healthier than you have been in years and then something like this comes up...well, it is disturbing. So, tomorrow is the stress test, and hopefully they will have the results quickly and we can get back to fixing the knee.

Hey Janet..... I'm sorry to hear you didn't get to have your surgery today.....but I am much more concerned with the reason why. They can always reschedule the knee surgery...although I know you are disappointed. Let's just focus on getting the rest of you fixed up and figured out first. Wow....I guess none of us saw that one coming, huh? Ok, we are all here to support you....and will be sending positive vibes your way, my friend. try to get to sleep early, so you can shine on your tests tomorrow, love.

Kristen...yes, I know you are right...find the problem and fix it......but it is so hard. I told my hubby when we left the hospital it was kind of like having false labor pains. You go expecting to have a baby, and they tell you to go home and wait, you are not ready yet. And I am sure for this site, you have 'been there and done this' many times, since most of you had those 'dry runs' for your precious donor organs. SO, I know you all know how I feel...thanks for all the thoughts and prayers.

Janet: Big bummer! I know you are disappointed, but just like everyone else said you need to find out what's going on with your heart before you have major surgery. I hope your stress test is fine tomorrow. I have already prayed for you tonight. I will pray again in the morning. God Bless!

Karen, THANK YOU....I just finished 'joe's story' for the day, and I am heading to bed. Hopefully it will go wonderfully....worst part of it is that they want me to be there at 7am....guess who is going back to bed when I get home...that is way too early to get up. LOL...thank you for the prayers, I appreciate them so much...prayer really does make a difference...nobody can convince me otherwise.

Janet Very interesting analogy about dry runs and disappointing surgery dates. I can see the parallel. Good point indeed.

Risa, I spoke with Janet on the phone 7:25pm Sat evening and she says that she had her Stress Test Friday and is now waiting for the test results. She plans to possibly post more about her son Joe's story this evening on this thread: http://www.transplantbuddies.org/tbx/messages/28848/71585.html?1250865227 Ol' Bob

THANK YOU everyone for your concern...I appreciate it more than you know. AND BOB...you are the best...thank you for the call this evening...everyone thought that was so thoughtful of you. I by the way, was NOT watching the football game, that would've been my daughter and hubby watching it. I was busy trying to work on some more bears before I go to the hospital to give it another try!! The stress test went well.....is that what you call it?? I lived through it.....stressful! I forgot that they last 4-6 hours, was not ready for that...but, nothing else to do, so why not. Had a good word search puzzle book, so just hung out and did it. Test results will be in on Monday or Tuesday, and after they read them, and hopefully they are good.....we will be back to schedule my knee replacement again. THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL THE PRAYERS!!! I appreciate them so much. Never have too many prayers. Just hope it all comes out for the best. It would be a real bummer, if I have spent all of this time and energy 'getting healthy', just to find that I am not as healthy as I started out as. But we are hoping for the best. The doc could've did the surgery with me 'awake'....can you imagine?? YIKES....cutting the bone off, etc.....and being able to hear all of that?? They did that with my uncle when they did both of his, he said it was kind of 'neat'....I think I will pass on that one. I would rather not be able to hear all of that stuff...yuck!! I said on the other thread earlier, that I would not be posting the end of Joe's story tonight....I got bitten by my brother's dog today, and my hand is really hurting....so, I am going to reply to posts, and try to type tomorrow night on the story. Thanks again everyone for your concern....and thanks for calling Bob~~

Janet: Ouch! A dog bite is no fun. I can imagine that typing would be irritating to it. I hope it heals soon. I am glad that your stress test went fine. Please let us know the results when you get them. I am anxiously awaiting the rest of Joe's story. What you have written so far is so moving and so real. I do think it would make an incredible book. Joe was a hero not only did he save the young girl from drowning, but he saved others lives through organ donation. More people need to hear about this incredible young man. God Bless!

Janet, I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed the stress test results will be good. I hope your poor finger is feeling better. Thank you for writing about Joe. It must be terribly difficult for you, but at the same time it may bring some type of comfort? I certainly hope so. Joe was an amazing boy and like I said before, a hero. Big hugs!

Karen and Megan, THANK YOU....you guys are the best...thank you for the kind words. I didn't realize how much I used my little finger for typing until I tried to type the other night....OUCH....it is still sore, but at least I can use it to type, so if it lasts until I finish replying to emails tonight, I will finish Joe's story, and if it doesn't, then I will do it tomorrow night. I feel really badly that I am letting all of you 'hanging'...but I guess everyone really knows 'the rest of the story', I just having written it on that site yet. Well, this is the first email and it hurts...so I am not going to promise tonight...but I will do it before I start tomorrow night. The bite/scratch is the whole length of my pinky finger, the left one and it seems to have all the 'vowels' to type...LOL...and the puncture wound from his fang tooth is on my fleshy part of the palm of my hand, and I guess it damaged a muscle or something, because typing makes it tired...and of course it seems that I am only using the left hand...and I know I am not. The puncture wound is pretty deep, but I put I butterfly bandage on it, and as long as it was 'closed' it has been fine...just hurts like a you know what....I will live. Just was hoping that it didn't get an infection or anything, and yes, with working at my sister's day care, I have to have my 'shots' in order, so I have my updated tetnus shots. So in a couple of days it should be just fine.....all of it. I talked to the doctor today, the doc who has to read my stress test is not in today or tomorrow, so he will read the results on Wednesday when he comes in and they will decide what the 'problem' is, or if we can go back to reschedule the surgery...so, we will know sometime on Wednesday I hope.
