My mother received a heart transplant and we are so excited. We have gotten her home and are in the process of figuring it all out. We are are overwhelmed with the cost of the medicine and are looking for help. Any ideas would be wonderful. She is taking Cellcept, Valcyte, Gengraf.

Good day Ellis,

Yes many of the drugs are VERY expensive. Best solution is to google each of the drugs and then go to the makers website. I am using patient assistance for many of my drugs (not covered by insurance) and dependent upon your situation you may get them supplied at no cost. You can feel free to contact me direct if you run into problems, I'll let you know more.

Stay well,
Jack

Hi Ellis

Welcome:-) Jack gave you excellent advice. Another option would be to contact a transplant fund raising organization. My favorite is COTA http://cota.org
If they cannot help you, they will refer you to the right fundraising program for your Mom.

Best of you health to you and your Mom. It is wise to be proactive in everything that involves her transplant care. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
