As there was a bit of chatter regarding assistance with the high cost of some drugs, here are some of the drug company sites I have used to get help for my drugs: Cellcept - Roche - several programs available - discount coupons at http://www.cellceptforliving.com/ or you can call 1-877- 509-2235 to speak abbout other options Valcyte - Roche - website is under construction but you can call 1-877- 821-8590 Rapamune - Pfizer (used to be Wyeth) - two programs - RSVP 1-888-327-7787 or http://www.pfizerhelpfulanswers.com/pages/Programs/programdetails.aspx?p=12 Pfizer Pfriends 1-866-706-2400 or http://www.pfizerhelpfulanswers.com/pages/Programs/programdetails.aspx?p=1 Lipitor - Pfizer - both programs listed above for Rapamune PLUS 'Connection to Care Program 1-866-2400 or http://www.pfizerhelpfulanswers.com/pages/Programs/programdetails.aspx?p=2 Another place to check is Medicare & Medicaid Services 'Limited Income NET Program, here is a link to that https://www.cms.gov/LowIncSubMedicarePresCov/03_MedicareLimitedIncomeNET.asp Hope this helps folks, stay well, Jack

Let's get this thread back up in the active area as we have a new year and folks will want to check some of these out. If your drug(s) are not listed google the manufacture - most all of them have assistance programs offering drugs at a discount or no cost to the patient - Medicare does not exclude you from many of these.

Supplementing Jack's post this months Consumer Report Magazine has an Article titled "Best Buy Drugs" (page 24). It lists Select discount-drug programs and provides information on cost and, in some cases, minimal annual fees. The article lists: Costco, CVS, Kmart, Kroger, rite, Target, Walgreens, and Walmart/Sams Club. Some of them have 400+ listed medications, vitamins available. Most programs are not valid with Medicare, Medicaid, or Tricare. The lists is generally priced at $4 per 30 day supply or $10 for a 90 day supply.

Has anyone had any experience with SCBN re: Patients Assistance program for medications? I am having a problem getting a renewal for PAP for Prograf from the manufacturer. SCBN works like a membership and they are Patients Advocate and they informed me that for a minimal amount, they can get me the Prograf. Help!!!!! I need some info if anyone had any experience with SCBN. Many thanks!

LouLou, Good morning. I haven't heard of SCBN so I Googled it and at face value, with their income requirements criteria, they may have potential to be of assistance. Prior to completing their application, which has you give up a lot of information, I would contact your Transplant Hospital's Patient Assistance or Advocate department and ask them if they have heard of them or they have any other recommendations. I would also check with the Better Business Bureau both locally and the area in which they are located. regardless, please post your bottom line findings for it will prove beneficial to many others.

Astellas also has one that you can register for through www.transplantexperience.com (I think). They will give you up to $200 towards your prograf

This is what I found online about SCBN and its record with BBB.Check this link: http://www.bbb.org/central-texas/business-reviews/medical-dental-discount-plans/selectcare-benefits-network-in-austin-tx-60175 I dont know how accurate this is but when I spoke to someone, they told me initial cost is $85.00 (50.00 for membership, plus $35 for Prograf) and monthly you pay $35 for Prograf . Dont know how updated that BBB review is.Maybe I should check it out further.

Lou Lou, NeedyMeds.org has a discount card that pays for 80% of drugs NOT covered by insurance. If you use that in conjunction w/ your Prograf Card and the Astellas program that your doctor can sign you up for, it should be free Prograf. Maybe that will help |

Thanks Laura for the info. Astellas did not approve my renewal so I will go the route you told me via NeedyMeds plus Prograf card? and see how much I still have to pay?

www.rxassist.org is a good resource. You can type in the drug name and it will pull up patient assistance programs for the drug, both brand and generic. You can look up most of your drugs in that one place rather easily.

Hi, Hope you were able to find help with the prograf. I found help thru Astellas, they send me my first 30 days supply and the application is being process. They will notify me. I was approved for Valcyte thru patient assistance . I'm also taking Mepron which is expensive, I just bought one bottle today. It cost me $289./21 days. I have to spend $600.00 to appeal to this co. Good Luck! |
