I went to see my local nephrologist today. As a result, I no longer have to take famotadine. I do have to start taking a baby aspirin each day. Depending on what my numbers are from my next A1c, I may be able to drop the glipizide!

I always find it to be good news when one can take one less medication especially if it signals improvement in one's own health. Congratulations as I know that you work hard and put so much effort in all that you do. I hope that you may be able to drop the other medication as well when the time comes.

I hope your bone density test turns out well. This is something I have trouble with as I have developed osteopenia of the thigh and osteoporosis of the spine. I have been on the annual Reclast infusion for a few years and can not yet tell that it is helping. Anyway, I wish you the best and am glad that you were able to drop another medication.

They said that I have slight osteopenia and want to look again in a few years. It is good to drop the glipizide, though.

I am sorry you have osteopenia. Do you have your vitamin D level checked? Mine was really low the first time it was checked after a bone density scan, so I was put on supplemental vitamin D of 50,000 IU once a month until it got up to some above low normal. My doctors then have me stop the supplement because they do not want my vitamin D to get to high so as not to bolster the immune system too much. After time, my levels then drop, and I have to take the supplement again. It has become a cycle, but I am willing to do what I can to keep my bones as strong as possible. Do you do anything specific to help your bones if you do not mind me asking? I hope that you can find an effective way to prevent your bones from getting weaker. Best of wishes and many hugs.

Apparently, mine is not bad, although I will probably mention it to my post transplant coordinator at Barnes to see what if anything they want to do with the information.
