Hi everyone, this is Dottie.
I just wanted to say hello and how share how much i have been enjoying reading some of the stories and "motivation" and "determination" here among your words. I have posted me story finally and hope to come by a couple times a week at least to share and hopefully motivate. "when you give, you receive"
I know exercise, "moving" played a huge role in allowing me to "live with CF" long enough to receive a successful lung transplant almost 15 years ago and kept me alive once again when i needed a kidney transplant receiving that in 2002. If I could share a couple things it would be;
1. Just Do Something-it is not a competition and whatever it is you do, you are doing more than the person choosing to sit on the couch and not do anything-i don't care if it is walking 1 flight of stairs one day instead of taking the elevator for 4(take it for 3) or, doing 2 minutes on the treadmill at a time (some days while waiting for my lungs that is what i did!) the point is you are choosing to move and fight to be healthy, stay healthy. It is power. I am proud of you, (be proud of yourself) for even the littlest things for they turn into larger ones, I promise.
2. *When I thanked my lung transplant surgeon for saving my life after waking up from an induced coma 2 days after my transplant where my heart stopped 2 x on the table i thanked him for saving my life. he looked at me and said "I didn't save your life, you did by keeping yourself in the shape you did" I knew at that moment everything that i did, every tear I shed and pain I went through by pushing myself was worth it and everything i would do to continue to have the ability to live my life in an exceptional manner would be also. I knew exercise, being an ATHLETE would forever be a part of my life-just as important as my daily medicine I swallow. I also knew that day that we both saved my life along with a very special donor and family.
NEVER forget the power you hold inside yourself at any time in your life.

Thanks for letting me share, God Bless you all
Dottie

Thank you so much Dottie

You are such a great role model for all of us living with CF and of course for other tx patients (pre and post). Did you read Cisco Kidney's blog.

He is very much like you in regards to fitness.

You are Awesome and your story is one that will always be remembered.

I am sure your story will get many butts off the couch (even the healthy people out there).

Thank you for motivating me today:-)
