Thank you Cisco for inspiring me to log everything what I eat during the day. This helps me if I seem to forget if I am snacking on too many carbs or not having enough protein throughout my day. Tell us more about how you log what you eat. This post is open to all those who log their daily food intake.

Well, my whole reason for writing down what I was eating started quite some time ago--right after transplant. I wanted to know specifically how foods that I ate affected me in terms of blood sugar. I also wanted to keep one to keep myself from cheating. It is easier to lie to other people than it is to lie to yourself. I have actually started to weigh whatever is not all ready packaged. For example meats. I keep into good contact with my transplant center and coordinator, too, so that if during my bulking stage of my exercise program, I get too much of anything, that she will let me know. I want to put on muscle, not hurt myself. Every individual is different as I have recently learned. What is right for one person to eat is not for another. What am I talking about? The amounts of carbohydrates and protein I am eating. My numbers have been very good and I eat 140-160 g of protein and 450-600g of carbohydrates on a daily basis. This is something I cannot explain, but I always try to maintain a level of carbohydrates in the 60's as far as my percentages of daily calories are concerned, I also try to keep my proteins in the high teens to low twenties as far as percentages. I eat slow digesting carbohydrates and lean protein for the most part. If I do eat faster digesting carbohydrates, I combine them with either slower burning ones and/or lean protein. This keeps my blood sugar from rocketing off into parts unknown. Yes, I still eat beef and pork, but I try to get leaner cuts of those, too. I guess the other goal I have is to prove to myself that I am not eating a bunch of stuff that I should not eat. Occasionally, I veer off the path for a meal, but I do not make a habit of it. Just my way of maintaining what sanity I still have.

Good ideas Cisco. I will let you know if I start slacking off. So far I have been writing down everything.

I use www.MyPyramidTracker.gov to track my food intake. (It's a free site from the US government) The site itself, takes a bit to learn how to use effectively. but I can easily see my nutrient intake. It works for me.
