I think you remember my thoughts about them. I don't really like them because 1) I can never feel comfortable on one--my body feels like it is doing something it should not do and 2) I feel like Chester on 'Gunsmoke' about fifteen minutes into the 'ride.' I know they burn more calories than most other cardio equipment, but I will stick with my treadmill.

Risa: I have never been on an eliptical, but I have always thought they were a good machine. I think if you are consistent with using it you would see great results. Of course, the key with any exercise is consistency. We have a treadmill, but I have always wanted an eliptical. God Bless!

Hi Karen I would hold off on buying one. I have mixed feelings about my machine. I own a precor which is an excellent product.

Hi Risa. I have an elliptical - a Precor too. Of course, I can't use it anymore (!!!) That said, I actually really, really liked it. This is because I get shin splints when I run, so the elliptical is much easier on the knees than running on a treadmill, for me anyway. I also don't use the "arms" of the ellipitical because they just annoy me. So, I use it without the arm movements - for me it's like running on a treadmill, except it's not ... (hahaha -- that's a real helpful description, isn't it?!). What don't you like about yours? |

Hi Rainbow My back would hurt the next day. This only happens when I overdo. I have the arm attachments and use them sometimes. How do you get the machine to stay stationery. I know there are adjustment wheels. We recently move the machine and now it is not stable. I will have to call a service man to come move it into another room and then secure it down.

Hi Risa. Hmmm - not sure about how to get it to stay stationary, I'm afraid ... but the service guys are usually pretty good; we had them come out once in the beginning because it was making a noise, and they sorted it out promptly. I used to do interval training - you know, as hard as you can for 2 mins, then slow for 1 min, then fast, fast, fast for 2 mins, slow for 1. this is after a 10 min stable nice-pace beginning. Hope that helps! Lotsa love, Rainbow |

I have a NordicTrack elliptical this one I bought back in 2006 April and I use it 4 or 5 times a week. I have found that for me it has been the best piece of equipment I have used since my transplant. I use it for 20 or 30 minutes in the morning as it seems to make my side effects much less. I also do sit-ups and some weight training . |

We have one also...nothing huge and fancy..but no matter what kind I get on..it is very uncomfortable. I feel like my feet are too far apart. It does not feel natural to me at all. I do not use it.

I never have gotten used to them. I get back on one periodically, just to see if anything has changed. It never has.

I started back on my eliptical with no problems. I am not using it every day so maybe that is the secret. I noticed that I have to take extra magnesium with longer workouts.
