My husband, John, received a living donor liver transplant two years ago. He is fully recovered, back at his healthy, active life, and we are thrilled. John is a ski area operator for a living, and suffered from PSC for twenty years. When it came time for a transplant, the doctors also found bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma a.k.a. c.c). Normally that would have been a deal breaker. But his wonderful doctors at the Mayo Clinic have pioneered a treatment for c.c. patients. With them and the generous gift of life from our brother in law, Whitney, John is alive and well today. I have written a memoir about our experience, which is forthcoming from Behler Publications. You can check it out at www.kimkircher.com.
