Hope this is the right place. a few minutes ago i wrote something and then found out it was the wrong place to post it.LOL Since this is the first thing im writting here, i guess ill just "introduce" myself. My name is Andrea C. Gonzalez. There is not much i could say about myself. I have a kidney transplant. Had my transplant at University Hospital in San Antonio, Tx. on March 19, 2007. Kidney is doing fine still, and thats good. I dont have much friends i hang out with, but have a great time with the ones i do have. I think friendship is one of the most important things in life. Without friends life would suck! I like to have music all day long. I sleep with music also. like mostly all types of music, except the one thats all noisy that you can hardly understand what they are singing or saying. I am currently 21 years old, will be 22 this year in October. (hopefully) Okay, i dont know what else to say about myself. I guess thats all for today. As time passes ill write some more stuff, depending on what goes on... Still dont know ho wto resize pictures, but as soon as i learn how, i will post a pic of myself..

Well, it's YOUR blog, write what you want. It is whatever is important to you. It is good that you still have your kidney, no doubt. I had mine after you had yours, and I too, feel fortunate. And you are correct that friends are important. But some folks are confused sometimes just exactly what constitutes a friend. As we get older, hopefully, we get wiser and are able to more easily distinguish between friends and acquaintances. If you have just a few true friends, you are truly rich. Good luck with your transplant. There are many nice folks here and I am sure that you will have an opportunity to meet new friends here.
There are not too many things in life worth working my butt off for, but my health is one of them |

here i am once again... topic for today is Friends and Family <3 I know ive made new friends here, @ transplantbuddies... but i also have some other friends.... and family members id like to introduce... As i have mentioned before, they are some of the most important people in my life. under each foto, i will add something about them. In this picture is one of my best friends and me. (i hope i got the size right this time)... Her name is Sylvia. i have sooo many good things to say about her. She iis one of the persons who have helped me keep a positive view on things. This is my beautiful sister. her name is ruth, like my mom. but i call her all different names... made up names. lol.. she wont allow me to write them down here, but the most usual one is rutie. I love her soooo much... She has been such a blessing. She is the one who always has something to make me laugh, and no matter how i feel, she has the power to put a smile in my face. I am 12 years older than her, and when she was a lil smaller, people at the stores would ask if shes my daughter. i must confess i sometimes lied and told them she was.... These are some of the wonderful ladies that are part of the same dance group im in.. I have lots and lots of fun with them. They are something special. to the left is Miriam, then Angie. After Angie there is Zenaida ( i like calling her Zalaila), then its me (color baby blue, my fav. color btw), right next to me is Sylvia, one of my best friends. Following Sylvia is Thelma, then Marlynn(Sylvias daughter) Vicky, Ary, and last but not least Maribel... Oh my God! my leader doesnt come out in this pic! ohh well LOL These are my parents. I love them dearly... Of course, we do argue sometimes, like any other family. You know, that stuff about im always right, and they dont seem to get it! lol j/k j/k j/k They have been very supportive with me. Constantly asking if i have taken my meds already. I guess they care about me, and thats why they are always asking. They wouldnt want anything to happen to me. After soooo much thinking about it, i have come to the conclusion that i wouldnt ask for any other parents. wouldnt change 'em... LOL These are my grandparents... (Almost like my parents) I Love them sooo very much. As you might be able to tell, i was on a huge dose of prednisone at that time. you can tell by my cheecks...hehe... Okay. here is a picture where my beautiful leader come out.. she is the one in the center. Also been a blessing in my life. She is the one who coordiografs ( not sure about the spelling) the dances we do... I have some pictures i want to add. but have run out of time. hopefully soon will be able to post some more i really really really hope they are the right size now. or at least better than the last one i put. that thanks to meagan we can see it! See you next time <3 andrea celeste

I'll see if i can find something about that show on the internet. probably on youtube, im guessing... Sounds like a good show. hugs, andrea

About time i showed up, right? To be honest, i had been quite busy, so i hadnt had thee chance to write anything here. Kidney is still doing good. im not sure if i had talked about my last visit with my transplant doctor, so i'll just write it down right now. Appointment was on January 4th. for some reason, my doctor was surprised my kidney was still functioning. idont know if thats a good thing or not. it was as if he was expecting it to be kinda worse. at the same time, im glad its doing okay. Next monday, i have another appointment. its for the social security. they made me an appointment with this one doctor to see if i still qualify for my benefits or not. i dont know how thats gonna come out. im usually not good with new doctors or doctors ive never before seen. i have asked my friend, (Sylvia) to go with me, since she had asked me to go eat some breakfast together that same day, so i want her to accompy me after we have breakfast. she still hasnt told me wether she can go or not. As i said, i am a little too much nervouse about that appointment. sooo much is depending on that examination. For that same reason i have asked Sylvia to go with me. Will tell you what happens... Till next time, andrea

There is not much to write about at this moment, i just have this weird feeling in me, about seeing a doctor i have never before met, Have any of you ever experience that before????? anyways, that would be all for today =D hope you all are doing well, love, andrea

Hi Andrea, Good luck with your appointment tomorrow and have a fun breakfast with your friend. It's normal to feel a little apprehensive when you see a new doctor, but I'm sure everything will go great for you. It's something like fear of the unknown. If you had seen them before I'm sure you wouldn't feel any apprehension. A lot of people feel like this when they have to see a new or different doctor. You'll be fine. Hugs, Meagan

hi, havent had much time to be here, and running late again. my creatinine is up to 1.8 now. after rejection episode of 2008 it had gone up to 1.5, and stayed there until now. i went to doctor yesterday and was told to lower my prograf med to 4mg morning and 3 at night. and said that my creatinine had gone up to 1.8..... will be going for labs again next week. any comments of ideas of what or why it may be that caused my creatinine is higher would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ohh and anything i may be able to do to help my kidney.... and one more thing... when the creatinine is at what level is it when doctor will tell you that kidney is no longer good enough??/ i know its alot of questions, but a huge amount of questions are going through my mind... sorry i hadnt post earlier Andrea

Hi Andrea, Although I did not have a kidney transplant my creatinine level went a little wacky about a year after my transplant. It was due to the prograf so they dropped the dosage. I tend to not drink enough water either and this also affects my creatinine level. I have to make myself drink water. I got into the habit of not drinking too much pre-transplant because I had congestive heart failure and easily retained fluids. Now the habit of not drinking too much is still with me. You should try keeping a bottle of water near your computer and chug-a-lug as you type. Love, Meagan

some of you may remember that i posted about a week before that my creatnine had gone up to 1.8... well, on wednesday i went for some labs and it came out that my creatnine went up to 2... that was in a little less than a week! i called my local nephrologist today because i have been feeling very weak, and with some minor pain at my transplant. with my blood pressure going up and down.. I have to go tomorrow to San Antonio, to check new labs, and have a biopsy done. if things arent getting worst, i may be able to return home that same day. In case, they catch something, then i will have to stay there for some time. ( University hospital in San Antonio, tx) ohh also on a urinalysis today, it showed that i have no urine infection, but that there is blood on the urine. (no menstrual thing)... I am a little worried for the results, but am trusting that everything will be okay... will keep you posted, whenever i can... Ask for your prayers also.. thanks, andrea

Once again, hi to all First of all, i want to say Happy Valentine's Day! hope everyone had a great time with your loved ones! I did, but havent uploaded the picture to my computer. as soon as i do that, i will post one here now, a little upday on what's going on with my tx and dr.s and meds, and all that stuff: went to San Antonio on Friday as i had said before. There was no need for the biopsy. :D im glad, cuz i was a little scared, to be honest. Ive only had a biopsy once after my transplant. I did have some labs drawn, a urinalysis, and a sonogram of my kidney. There was no rejection, no infection, and no more blood on the urine!!! Doctor Riley said that 2 will now be my "baseline" or new normal level for my creatnine. and that i should be doing fine with that. Blood pressure meds had no change, And the best thing of all: I was able to return home that same day! Isnt that great!!!! Even though i was extreamly tierd from the trip, i had promised ruthy, my sister i would do a "sleep-over party" on the 12 (friday) for her. so i had to keep my promise. i did! and trust me, i did have some fun with her and some of her friends, but i wont ever do that again, not after a trip to San Antonio, to a doctor's visit! thats for sure! As i said already, i didnt have time to upload any pictues today, but i will as soon as i can... Happy Valentines day to all love, andrea P.S. thanks for your prayers, everyone <3

Hi everyone, once more... had my bipsie results. chronic rejction, but no vasculitis.... i am now sooo excited. im planning to go to monterrey (nuevo leon, mexico) i have some cousins who live there and have been inviting me and finally told them i will. i plan on leaving on sunday and beeing there for about a week. i'll post pictures so you all can see how much fun i had... in the meantime,i will still post here. today i went to have breakfast with sylvia, my friend. i had so much fun, but more than that, she listened to me, and was able to make me see things a little differently. she told me how strong she sees me and thinks i am, and how even in difficult times i am able to stand up again. i love my friends. there is always going to be someone who is able to brighten my day, if its not some of my friends from here eagle pass, then its someone from here transplantbuddies page.... well, i will keep you informed of whatever happens from here till then... hugs, andrea

Hi Andrea, I posted my comments on your biopsy results on your other thread, "Crazy Ridiculous", but just wanted to say I am happy to hear how excited you are about your trip to Mexico. I haven't heard you this excited in weeks. I look forward to seeing your pictures as I am sure everyone else will. Sylvia sounds like a wonderful friend. You are blessed to have a friend like that. I am glad you had fun with her and that she listened to you and was able to help you see things differently. I will pray things work out for you and I hope you have a blast In Mexico. Do you have a doctor you can see if necessary while you are there? Love and hugs (also Alyssa sends you a hug. Remember I told you she does not give out kisses anymore, just hugs?) Your friend, Meagan xx

Hi Andrea, Too bad about Mexico but South Padre Island sounds great too. Should be a fun outing. Is Sylvia, the friend in all your pictures? She sure does sound like a great friend. I am happy you are having fun with her. I just had Alyssa for the afternoon and I am hoping I am not too worn out to enjoy Dancing With The Stars tonight. Maybe I should record it just in case I doze off. Have fun at the movies with your sister. Let us know how the labs turn out. I will think positive thoughts and pray you get improved results. Hugs and much love, Meagan

meagan, here is a picture of me with sylvia, and yes, most of the recent pictures i have are with her.. she is one of the few persons i actually hang out with, in this picture i had bearly gone out of the hospital after the 2008 rejection episode, and we were celebrating my birthday since i spent that day at the hospital. she couldnt go visit me cuz its almost 3 hours away, and shes is married and have 3 girls. she still called and texted with me. when i finally got home that time, she was outside of my house waiting for me to arrive. you are absolutely correct, it is a great blessing to have her by my side... so here goes the picture...

okay, these verses have helped me so much, specially now that ive been having some problems with my kidneys.. here i go: "I lift my eyes to the hills- where does my help come from? my help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip- he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you- the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm- he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevemore." Psalm 121:1-8 that will be all for today. Hope this blesses all of you who read it, as it did me

What a wonderful prayer Andrea. Bless you for posting it. Why don't you post it in the prayer forum as well. I am sure everyone will love it. BTW, love the picture of you and Sylvia. From the sounds of it, she is a wonderful friend and obviously cares for you very much. Good job with sizing the picture. Sending you Huge Hugs, Meagan

Okay, so something i was a little excited for happened just yesterday. Sylvia and I were planning a dinner for some ladies, it was a princess type of dinner. we had some trouble getting everything ready, but thankfully everything came out just the way we wanted it, if not better. i had lots of fun, it was kinda remembering childhood lol. we all had our little crowns and it was something amazing. loved it really. i didnt take any pictures, but she did. when she gets her pics, ill ask her for some, and that way i can post some here... Im sorry im not talking much about my health lately, but truth is that i dont want to focus much on the negative, but try to focus more on the more positive stuff... my health hasnt gone any worst, which is something good. i have an appointment with my transplant center this coming monday, ill let you know how that goes... love, andrea

Hello everyone, hope u all are doing good I know ive been out of this for quite some time, but its just that alot of things have been happening lately. Well, first of all, thanks for being here for me, still.. One of the major changes is that my transplant failed. They are thinking of removing it sometime soon. I am back in dialysis, except this time im doing hemo instead of PD. Reason: just wanted to try something different. Started dialysis last month, and things are going well but i do get very tierd. Tierd and sleepy. I am hoping to get back on the waiting list sometime soon and next time around, keep the kidney for much longer than the 3 years this one lasted. Although most of this seems like bad news, ( not to mention the blood in the urine) not everything is negative, not everything is all that bad. I still have my family, my fiends, i still have you guys, whose support i trully appreciate. Here's something else, i went to Mexico this morning. I got a haircut and some red highlights. Believe it or not, it made me feel much better about myself. I dont know what it is, or how to explain it, it just made me feel better. The chruch aniversary is coming up, its this weekend. Im still gonna dance, (promise i'll upload some pics) we have been practicing lots n lots... Thats another thing that motivates me, and im sooo excited, i can hardly wait. I know it will come out beautiful... Well, that's what has been going on, sorry i dont have much interesting things to share, i get very sleepy and i spend big amounts of time sleeping. Thanks for listening, thanks for reading, thanks for being here xoxoxox andrea

Hi Andrea, There are times when all of us have to sit back and take some time for ourselves. It's understandable given what you are going through and been through. I think all of us have done the same thing at some point in our lives, but just let me say this, "I AM SO HAPPY YOU'RE BACK!" You're such a good person and so sweet. Your parents must be so proud of you. Don't you worry about the pictures. Whenever you get the chance is fine. Hugs, Meagan

Oh My Gosh! Its been like the longest time since i've been here... Dialysis and the dance group i'm in @ church consumes most of my time and energy. I want u all to know that all of you are in my thoughts. Aparantly im starting the whole transplant process all over. Last week i got a call from the University Hospital in San Antonio. She was gonna put all my info into the computer then pass it on to a transplant nurse. The nurse already called, she is sending me a packet that i have to fill out and i have my 1st evaluation appointment on the 30th of this month. Its the same hospital where i had my transplant some time ago. i was checking some stuff and found out its almost gonna be a year already since i went back on dialysis. Time is slipping out of my hands, its passing by so quickly. I cant believe how fast things change and are continuing changing. Well, for now, thats all. Im going to go rest for a little bit.
