7/23/2010 New Blog!! New approach!! Hopefully it will prevent those lengthy trips to the bottom to see what's new at DAP1122 World Headquarters. I plan on starting a new thread every month. Maybe it will help keep me a little better organized. Thanks to Rise' for getting me organized here. Let's see, on the old blog which is one of the other threads herein, the last I wrote was right before we were going out of town. We did, in fact, go a nice vacation by ourselves ..... no grand kids, no son, no friends, nobody. It was the first time in a LONG time that we went away alone. It was extremely peaceful. Not chasing anyone, being at some place at a given time, no one to worry about except for ourselves. It was a GREAT week. So nice that I gained, for the first time since my transplant, 3.1 pounds in a week. Granted, that's not a lot, but usually I can go away and come back at the identical weight I was at when I left. So, now I'm dieting, but let me tell you it was worth it!! We got back home late on Tuesday evening. Eight hours after our plane landed I was on the road to my transplant center to volunteer. It was a mixed day .... bittersweet ....... I learned that I lost another good friend while I was gone. But, another friend was blessed by God and received the gift of life. I said a lot of extra prayers for a number of families and gave thanks for all of my blessings. Yesterday, was our monthly transplant dinner, and as always, we had a wonderful evening with some very fantastic people. It is my favorite event of the month. Today, we went to lunch with my Mom and dined on a patio overlooking a golf course. It was pleasant, until the heat got to all of us. Below - Before my transplant, my drink of choice was the Bloody Mary. I had not had one since a week or two before I got sick ..... until the other day ....... we were having lunch at this very nice restaurant in Boca Raton, FL and I saw one of these go by on a tray ....... it was calling me .... and I answered!!! It was yummy!!

7/26/2010 ~ The weekend here was a pretty decent one. But, it did have a scary moment or two. On Saturday evening we were out and about and saw a storm building rapidly to our west. It turned out to NOT be a typical storm and for the first time in years we both got a bit concerned .... ok, scared. Eventually I found a safe place to pull over until the pounding we were taking subsided. The extreme heat we had been experiencing here has also subsided .... at least for a day or two. This week is an unusually busy one for us. Normally, we don't have this many things on our docket, but suddenly we find ourselves with a full week. Regardless .......... Life Is Good!!

7/29/2010 ~ It's been another busy week here at DAP1122 World Headquarters. We seem to never run out of things to do, ideas or plans. And that's what life is all about. Monday was a very long day of weed pulling and some spraying. The weeds had over taken the gardens while we were away. By evening the place looked pretty good. I was also lucky enough to give away about $1,300 worth of generic Cellcept that I couldn't use, because my drug supplier switched manufacturing companies. I was happy to give it away to some anonymous person that can use it. (Apparently a kidney recipient) Tuesday was a day dedicated to food. A few weeks ago my son's best friend's dad open a restaurant near Cleveland that serves Lebanese food, so we went there to see our son's friend who was in town (who is like a second son to us) and try out the restaurant. It was excellent, and very healthy food. We will go back. After an afternoon of shopping, we tried another newer restaurant, owned by Michael Symon, who won the Iron Chef contest a few years ago on the Food Network. The restaurant is called the B-Spot and it was all hamburgers. Since I don't eat many burgers, it was a treat for me, and very tasty. Wednesday was volunteer day and it was a good day. No emotional highs or lows many folks were very talkative. I met a couple of new people Yesterday I installed an air conditioner at my father-in-law's house. After a long HOT summer he decided it was time for A/C. We also ran numerous errands and took a ride in the evening. Life is good!!!

7/31/2010 ~ I finally got around to getting the pictures off of the camera and on to the PC from our trip earlier this month. We were having brunch on a beautiful Sunday morning at a place called the "Four Seasons" on Palm Beach island in Florida. We had a gorgeous view and a delicious meal. This time of the year, the sea turtles have laid their eggs and the nests are all staked out, documented and protected. I've only seen them hatch and make their way to the ocean on video, never in person. we did not get to see it on this trip either. But, the staff at the Four Seasons found this confused little guy headed up to the restaurant, so they picked up and showed him off a bit before releasing him back into the Atlantic. As a little update ....... in the week we were gone, I gained 3.1 pounds. Due to pigging out a bit. It took me 9 days to get that weight off and a tiny bit more. Back down to where my Dr's won't yell at me, LOL.

Beautiful animal! I would have loved to have seen it before it went back to the ocean! I suspect it was picked up by a gull during the night and got dropped.

DAP: I love the new blog! It is easy to read and I love all the pictures! Sounds like your summer has been busy and fun. Ours has been extremely busy. And I was worried about keeping Sammy busy - ha! We have never had a day that we didn't have something to do. It's been so much fun. 10 more days and Sammy goes back to school. It's very bittersweet. I will miss him terribly, but it will be nice to have some of my own time back. I look forward to reading from DAP World Headquarters! God Bless!
