10/3/2010 ~

This past week, plus a few days has been one of the busiest, craziest weeks I've experienced in years.

Having my Mom and my wife's dad in the hospital at the SAME time has taken it's toll on both of us. And, at the same time, trying to make some minimal progress on returning our house to normal.

FIL went in the hospital on Thurs, 9/23 and was diagnosed with a partial small bowel obstruction. They tried a few "passive" things and he finally had abdominal surgery on Wednesday. due to high BP (200+/110+) , some heart rhythm issues and breathing issues, he landed in SICU for 2 day. Late on Friday they moved him to a monitored floor. he's improving daily, but still has a ways to go.

My Mom went in the hospital last Monday for a total knee replacement. She had her surgery did fairly well and as transferred to an rehab facility on Thursday. While in the hospital, she was on the same floor as FIL, but they were on different ends of the building. The rehab center is 15 to 20 minutes from here so it adds a different dynamic to our travels. She had a rough start there, but we took her a TV, hooked it up, brought chocolates and ear plugs and she's now a happy camper that wants to do her time and go home. (about 2 weeks).

In the middle of all of the above the tile guys came on Wednesday and Thursday to install our new kitchen floor. They dad a fabulous job, but there was a short period of time where there was an issue with the scope of work and exactly what I paid for ....... I know my BP was SKY high for a few minutes, but after the Manager and I had a "discussion" (I actually had a screaming fit) all was rectified and the job was completed at NO additional cost.

So,as the last week has gone ....... this coming week will be about the same. Mom in rehab and FIL in the hospital ........ I am dreaming of a vacation.

Meagan ~ I know I watched DWTS both times it was on ......... Hasselhoff and Michael Bolton got the boot ...... Bruno was out of line, etc, etc. But, I admit I have NOT had a lot of focus thus far, LOL.

Here's the kitchen floor ....... (I will try to paint this week)

LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!

DAP:

Sorry that you have had such stressful week. If it's any consolation, the floor looks wonderful!

I hope you get some painting done this week. I pray that both of your parents continue to heal and do well.

God Bless!

Hi Dap

Your kitchen looks brand new and very pretty!

Sorry to hear about your family. Wishing you good health that will carry you through with ease until you reach your much needed vacation spot.

Sorry you had some stress with payment. Did you have a contract with an amount that was discussed? Just curious. Sometimes they write sloppy and I ask them to write their estimate and total amount due very clearly.

Take care of yourself

10/8/2010 ~

Chaos is still in control here, but to a lesser degree. We now have both patients in rehab ....... occupational and physical therapy. This a GOOD thing and does lighten our burdens a little bit.

The home improvements are continuing and we are getting the house back in order slowly. I have a little more painting to do tomorrow, and then some touching up here and there. Most of the furniture is back where it should be, but we still have all the pictures and other decorative items to hang up.

Rise', the issue was with the scope of the job, which was clear on the drawings, but not on the installers. Actually, the guys that did the installation were wonderful, the issue was with their boss. It took a bit for him to see my point.

Life is GOOD!!!

Today was "Denim Day" (Breast Cancer Awareness) where my daughter-in-law works ...... and also at my grand-son's school. I got an early morning picture about the event.

10/11/2010 ~

Life continues, but at slightly slower pace now. Both parents are still in rehab facilities and the home improvement projects are coming together nicely. Since my transplant I knew I had a certain amount of energy and if I expend it all on any give day, I know it takes a while to recover. So, I've been pushing myself, but within reason.

In 10 days we leave to baby-sit the little people. I'm anxious to get there and see them, squeeze them, spoil them. Then I can relax ....... well, as much as one can relax with a 4 year old and a 2 year old.

Last week I started a different generic brand of Cellcept. So far, so good. I'll have a blood test next Monday to check my levels. I'm comfortable that all is well.

LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!!

Out with the old and in (generic Cellcept) with the new ...... and, yes, I keep track of these changes ........

Hi Dap

Wishing you all a successful healing period for your mother and father in law.

I am proud to hear you say you pace yourself. You need to put yourself first.

Very interesting with the Cellcept. Tell me, why are you switching generics?

I hear the Apotex has a branch not to far from where I live.

10/16/2010 ~

Rise' ~ I had to switch to a different generic Cellcept because APOTEX apparently wasn't making their generic any longer, or it wasn't available to my drug supplier, so my Tx center switched me to another brand. I'll have my first labs done on Monday.

Another very busy week winds down.

Both parents are still rehabbing and the house is improving daily. Exhaustion takes over both of us by evening. Life continues at a pace that we haven't been used to for the past 3 years. The bright side is that every day is better.

Tomorrow, we are taking a breaking and escaping town. there is a festival that we go to in a little historic town about an hour south of us by the name of Coshocton, OH. Looking to have a fun and relaxing day.

Next week, it will be off to see the little people ....... I am anxious for that.

The other day we had a quick hitting, but hard storm ......... I thought is was snowing!! Hail, yeah!!!

Don,

I hope the parents make a speedy recovery. You sound like you need a much deserved break. I can hear your excitement at seeing the little people next week. Seeing my Alyssa in the hospital perked me up to no end. Whatever would we do without these little people.

What do you think of DWTS? I sort of watched it in the hospital but I definitely did not like the stage. Who do you think will win? Jennifer? I love to see Mrs. Brady in action like that. Hope I'm in her shape when I hit her age.

Enjoy your outing tomorrow.

Hugs, Meagan

Don:

I don't think busy is the right word for your life right now!?!?! Goodness - you are doing a lot!!

Hopefully your trip to Coshocton was a nice day. Did you go to Roscoe Village? Three of my college roommates were from Coshocton. I even dated a guy from Coshocton. It's a cute town and Roscoe Village is really neat.

Have a wonderful trip to see your little people. It might not be relaxing, but you as always you will enjoy yourselves. :-)

God Bless!

10/24/2010 ~

We are on baby-sitting duty at our son's home. It's a crazy time, but not as tiring as visiting two rehab facilities every day. (The siblings had to pick up the slack).

I'm attempting to read the posts each day, but that's about as far as I get until someone is screaming, or needs milky, or can't find their favorite book or doll.

More when I can.

LIFE IS GOOD!!

Hi Don,

Love Bella's picture! Can she get any cuter?

Sounds like you will need a holiday when you get home after all these weeks of running around. I hope the parents are contining to heal nicely.

I suppose you have been to busy to watch DWTS?

Continue having fun with the little people. Check out my blog sometime. I have posted some pictures of Alyssa and my grand-nephew (great-nephew?) Josh. I will probably make a sub-thread just for pictures when I have time, and also upload to the Friends' site.

Continue to enjoy your time with the little ones, and have a safe trip home.

Don:

Oh my gosh! Bella is tooooo cute! I love it!! Oh what fun you and your wife must be having. Tiring I am sure, but oh so worth every minute. They are only little for such a short time. Enjoy it while you can.

I was looking at some of Sammy's baby pictures today. Oh - I miss those days sometimes, but then I look at him and see this beautiful young boy growing up and discovering new things each day. It is just as fun. He is so fun right now. I hope his heart and mind always stay so innocent and curious. :-)

Have fun!

God Bless!
