Happy New Year to all!

1/2/2011

It's been a pretty quiet weekend here. We went out for dinner to a very nice restaurant for an early New Years Eve dinner and then came home and watched a movie. On New Year's Day, we went to the movies and saw "Secretariat" ....... if you like horses, it's about the Triple Crown winner from 1969, with Diane Lane. A very GOOD movie!!

This week will be busy as I get down to business with my health insurance and pharmacy changes. I'm ready, and have already taken a number of steps. I need to take a few more steps tomorrow and then contact my transplant center for another rash of changes.

My fingers are crossed that all will go well.

Here's to a HEALTHY, HAPPY and PROSPEROUS New Year for EVERYONE on TransplantBuddies in 2011!!

God Bless!!

Now on vacation from Santa and touring to the south ~

1/6/2011 ~

This week has had good and not so good times.

Monday was very hectic as I got deeply involved in my new insurance and pharmacy issues. Lots of calls and lots of following up. So far, so good. Now it's a waiting game to see if everyone does their job as expected. I did have one follow up call from the mail order pharmacy, which seemed odd, but the situation has been handled.

Beyond that, it's been back to normal here with the holiday rush over. Back to the gym on a regular basis, back to dealing with every day events and issue. Back to "normal" life.

Volunteered yesterday and it was bittersweet. Spoke in depth with a newer patient and we had a very good discussion. On the down side, a patient I've known for quite a while is now very sick. Lots and lots of prayers for this individual. It was a bittersweet day for me.

Today, we've had continuous snow, with more expected tonight & tomorrow. Winter is back, and we will deal with it.

Life is good. We are blessed!

Keeping Santa's chair warm for him, right before Christmas ~

1/11/2011 ~

Karen, my wife and I went down to Oglebay park in Wheeling WV to stay a night at the lodge and see their awesome Christmas lights display. I had never been there and was somewhat skeptical, but that place is incredible. I will go back. Anyway, Santa was still napping, so I kept the chair warm for a while. (Meaning, I can only stand so much time in gift shops)

Since my last post, I was sick ...... worst I've felt since my transplant and it was quite a shock. It was a gastrointestinal issue that has since passed now. 3 days and 5 pounds lost. I am getting back to normal.

Now, we are watching it snow ...... we're expected to get 9" from this system, so it's time to relax and watch it snow. Looks like I won't be volunteering tomorrow ....... it could easily take 3 to 4 hours to make the normal 1+ hour trip.

Please check out my other blog for an exciting surprise. You can see it here ~ http://my2ndheartbeat.wordpress.com/2011/01/11/an-incredible-new-book-free/

My thoughts and prayers tonight are with Meagan and her family.

God Bless!!

I wanted to share this ..... both are doctors (one is a psychiatrist) ....... one belongs to me. Proving Docs like to have fun too!

1/16/2011 ~

Nothing exciting to report. It's been a typical, cold, winter week here. Dealing with the snow and cold can make one tired and I'm no different.

Still having some residual effects of whatever ailed be last weekend. Better each day, but still not back to, what I would call normal.

We did go to the movies and saw Burlesque, with Cher and Christina Aguilera and it was quite good. we both enjoy it. And, I won a gift card to a restaurant that we had never tried before, so we went and and it was quite good.

We are looking ahead a couple of weeks when the little people should be visiting us for the weekend.

Regardless, life is good and that's what it's all about!!

Dear Dap

I have no clue how I missed your blog posts. Happy New Year once again.

I am sorry to hear you were sick. Was it a flu bug? Glad to hear you are feeling better.

Your pictures ROCK!!!

I must admit when reading posts, I have an old habit of looking at each topic and looking for new posts. Sometimes the yellow arrow does not show up and I fail to look at dates. It is really easy to go to the last day and look at the messages that way. I will start doing this today.

God Bless YOU and all the lives you touch.

1/24/2011 -

Oh my, I haven't updated here in a while. Guess that's to be blamed on my winter doldrums.

Last week was a fairly busy week. It was My Mom's birthday and a number of events that kept us busy. Of course dealing with the weather requires some extra time these days as well. Volunteered on Wednesday and had a class afterwards.

This week, we have a transplant dinner one night and hopefully, the little people will be coming next weekend, but that's weather dependant.

Life is GOOD!! Enjoy every heartbeat!!
