2/4/2011 ~ It's been a week here. Has almost felt like a month in the past few days. Monday and Tuesday, we were supposed to have a couple of winter storms here. The forecasts changed by the hour on Monday, in which we were supposed to get about 10 - 12" of snow, depending on whose forecast you believed. It turns out we got a lot of freezing rain and in very short order our county was a disaster zone as the freezing rain continued to collect on EVERYTHING outside ...... tree limbs were dropping every where, taking down thousands of power lines. The governor stopped by to offer moral support. Our power "flickered" six or seven times before going our for good at about 10:45pm, Tuesday night. We decided to simply go to bed then deal with the PROBLEM in the morning. Secretly we were hoping that the power would be back on in the middle of the night. Well, it wasn't and by 8am when I got up to take my morning meds, it was down to 58 inside the house (13 outside). I took quick shower (gas hot water), the Mrs cleaned up and we were out of here. We went and found a local restaurant that had power and was open. Then.to help us take our minds off of the "situation", we went to the movies and saw "True Grit" I was an excellent movie! FIL is in Florida at his son's house and amazingly his house still had power so we went there for the night, We also had no phone service, which knocked out my wireless Internet, so ended up having create a "hot spot" on my Droid so I could connect my wife's IPad to the internet. The next morning (Thursday morning), I called home and was amazed to hear my answering machine pick up the call. It was a nice surprise. If I haven't said this in a while ...... I HAVE A STRONG dislike for winter. Regardless ...... Life is Good .... and I am very THANKFUL!! Our son sent this ...... from Philadelphia ....... he said he was "thinking" of us, LOL.

What a cute photo! Glad to hear you were able to weather the storm. All of those poor people without power. I too dislike the weather up north.

To think I feel cold when it's below 72. Must be something wrong with me!

Don: YIKES! No power! We were soooo lucky. Most of our neighborhood lost power, but our street didn't. What are the chances of that?!!? God is looking down on us!! I am glad that you had somewhere to go. It was down right freezing a couple of those nights. Brrr!! I am glad that your power is back. Very cute picture! What fun! My little Sammy doesn't like the cold very much so he doesn't play in it unless he gets talked into it. He doesn't stay out very long. Our neighbors had dueling snowmen contests. It is soooo fun to watch them build their snowmen. This time though one of the snowmen fell flat on his face. It was hilarious. Just a small thing that makes winter bearable - just like the picture of your snowbear!! Have a great week! God Bless!

2/20/2011 ~ It's been CRAZY here the past couple of weeks and I've seriously neglected this blog. Last weekend we spent 4 days visiting the "little people" and had an excellent time. It was a very busy, jam packed weekend in which we had a ton of fun with them. Actually, we FINALLY celebrated Christmas with them! Ho-Ho-Ho!! We got home in time for some warm weather to arrive and melt ALL of the ice & snow that we've had on the ground since November. It was great to see the grass. That led to a number of outside clean up projects. Life is good!! DAP

2/27/2010 ~ Another week of winter has gone by and with it another recent snow storm. This time it sounds like the snow won't be here long as they are forecasting heavy rains tomorrow, which will bring flooding in many areas. It's been a busy week here. A number of projects around the house were completed, there was a day of volunteering and also our monthly transplant dinner. Took my Mom & FIL to dinner on another evening. I ran across the following quote the other day and I really like it. I think it really applies to my life, my transplant, my friends and family. "Adapt yourself to the life you have been given, and truly love those whom destiny has surrounded you." To me, this is one of the ultimate quotes. My heart issues and transplant drastically changed my life ..... that is a fact. I had to adapt, I had to change because of this gift I was given. Now, I truly enjoy so many things in life that I never had time for in the past. Life is truly good. Destiny, fate, or God surrounded me with many new people as my life changed. They replaced others that seemed to have disappeared from my life once I got sick. Those that stuck by me always showed their love, their friendship and I do TRULY love ALL of the people that surround me!! To all of YOU ~ I'm happy you are in my life ~ My love is always there for you!
