Iwent to this page to look for study groups in my area and there are two which are not close to my home. Although if I moved back to California there would be tons of options.

I have checked out the study groups in my area. Most the groups require that you have taken the five day intensive class.

We can have our own study group on this site. Do you want to have this? I know enough to get into more detail of what is in the book.

Risa and Amanda:

I would be interested in being in a study with you guys! I have the book and video - thank you Risa! I started doing the daily energy routine last week. Just about 5-7 min. a day and I am feeling better each day. I have more energy and my mood is sooooo much better. I don't feel that dooms day feeling that I have been feeling for months. I am trying to learn more as fast as I can, but it takes time to read through the book and do the exercises correctly. I would love to have a group, so we could help and encourage each other.

God Bless!

Thank you RISA......
I had to go back again today. This week has been an ordeal. If only some doctors learn to listen to a patient, it could have saved me a lot of aggravation.

Not going into details, I developed a new infection. But I doubt it. I think it is a tail from the first big one which I was just getting over with last week. I just finished the antiobiotics last week, then here comes again

It has been a tough week for me.

Today was tiring, I had some training from the home nurse so I can apply my own IV antibiotic daily for 2 weeks. I have to do IV therapy at home, once a day since it is a very strong one. But the antibiotic first dose today,(we missed yesterday's because of so many issues) made me feel weird. I felt I was like high and drunk!

I still have to get accustomed to doing it myself.

Thank God, I am still alive, and my wonderful fighting kidney is not affected and doing well.
I just love my new kidney, and I am overprotective of my dear K.

Don't worry Risa, I survived! but I was almost losing hope this morning before I got back to the hospital.

BTW, you mentioned that you found the probiotic that you buy at Whole Foods, found the same one in Vitamin Shoppe. Which one is that? VS has so many diff. stuff, and I want to make sure I will order the correct one.Thank you so much.

I am sorry you are going through so much. Feel free to share whatever it is that is bothering you. Remember you can teach us and we all want to learn. I really need to speak for just myself :-)

Here is the link
http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=RW-1029

At whole foods they are charging 35.00 and I am shocked that Vitamin Shoppe is discounting very generously.

I am glad that I found this great discount.

This probiotic needs to be refrigerated. I hope you have a vitamin shoppe in your area. Can you call in advance to make sure they carry this particular brand at your store before you make the trip?

I found this product at another health food store and they only had two bottles left. It is very popular.

I must admit, I have tried many brands and this is the BEST with a capital B.

I take two pills daily and may be cutting back to only one as I feel much better and may not need two. I think I am on this particular probiotic for at least two months.

lots of healing HUGS

Risa Dear,
You are so sweet and wonderful, and very helpful.

Of course I will write more about my ordeal. yes, I am sure a lot to learn from it, I am learning myself, and becoming an aggressive advocate for myself. But some days I get so overwhelmed and frustrated, esp. this week's happening.

I will get my thoughts and emotions together and will write back about this. right now after my first dose, of the IV antibiotic, I feel like a drunkie.........it is so strong, as if my head is floating while asleep, but I am awake, hahaahha.

Thank you for the info. I do have a Vitamin Shoppe near me. I will go there tomorrow after the nurse visit and my IV therapy, if I feel good about driving. It is so near.......

now one question when you say you feel better after taking 2 caps of the probiotic. What is the feeling you had prior to taking this? I know that when I started on Kefir I also feel better. Till I got hit with this infection again, my levels went down and my hemoglobin which I was working on to go higher and normal, just went down again so I got to continue with the procrit injections this weekend.

Is anyone here with United Healthcare insurance? It seems they have new program where they classify the Prograf and Procrit under their Specialty Medication program, so starting Dec. 1 I need to order it via mail? I never liked doing the mail program because my dosage changes every time. It is not stable yet and I do not want to waste any medication.

I will be back and write bout my ordeal this week, which is an after effect of the big ordeal.......I think.

Until then.........

Hi Lou Lou

I take One Renew life probiotic pill in the am and one in the pm. This pill is for the intestinal tract. My bowel movements are better. Since I have CF, my digestion is very involved in my care. It is important to me that I keep myself healthy and taking a probiotic helps your body especially when taking antibiotics. You want to avoid getting a fungal infection from the antibiotics.

I tried only taking one pill and I found that I need two pills daily. Before taking this pill, I had some abdominal bloating and that has gone down.

It is better to have extra medications than not to have. I think united healthcare is a great company. Did you relocate for your transplant? If so, they have a transplant fund where they pay your travel and living expenses. They helped to cover my expenses when I went back to Chicago.

If you find writing about your ordeal stressful, I would not do it. I think what will be most interesting to others is how you are dealing with your situation and what you learned from your experience.

love

Thank you so much Risa for your helpful information.

I just have a few things to say:
1. I supposed this probiotic is safe to take considering we are on anti rejection drugs?
I do not see anything that should interact with the meds.
2. I also have a problem with my digestive system. I am very acidic and with the so many diff.pills I take including iron, either I have diarrhea or constipation. Ever since I started on Kefir, I have been fine, and when you compare this to the probiotic you suggested , the pill has way more cultures in a capsule.
I also have the same like yours where my abdomen is always bloated.

To answer some of your questions:
1.NO I did not relocate for my transplant. I am here in Chicago I do know about the transplant expenses with insurance because I initially was listed in University of Madison, but I changed my mind because of the travel involved, and I have no way of getting there on my own. I totally depend on myself to drive.

I am so sorry I am still going through some stress, dealing with the insurance, and many others. Not to mention everything I had to deal with while I was at the hospital. All I want is to get my new prescription but something changed with the insurance. I only found that out when I was bringing a new prescription to the pharmacy after I got discharged and I was told insurance does not cover it.
Now the insurance wants me to order it through their mail order company. And I was out of prograf, and the pharmacy manager gave me for 3 days till I sort out the problem.
It was a broohhaaha dealing with the mail order company as well.It was very frustrating because I really needed to get the prograf and they informed me it will get to me today, and it did not.
So now the local pharmacy is charging me for the 3 days dosage they gave me. Insurance told me the other day it will be easy to get reimbursed, but today I found out it is not an easy process . They just pass you from one person to another, etc.etc.

I am really up over my head dealing with all this.

I was on the phone practically all day just coordinating all these issues.

A week of ordeal and another few days, what more can I ask for. I am the lucky one, nothing goes smoothly for me, it has always been a rough road.

I have always been a patient and calm person, but it seems after my transplant, I have become less of that, and I don't want myself that way. Before, I have never been rattled, I can handle anything that comes my way, and I do it well but I guess not anymore this time.

Who can I turn to? to help me through all the coordination with doctors, etc. I see different ones in the hospital and left hand does not know what the right hand does.....can you blame me for all the frustrations I have been dealing with all these past months? I wish I do not get hospitalized again. I dread the day I am there.

Now it seems overwhelming, but no one can help me except myself. I have learned to voice out my issues, deal with insurance, deal with my issues, hospitalization etc. I hope I won't end up totally in debt........after all these.

It is a rough road, but I am trying to be strong. But some days, I just break down with frustration, then I pick up myself again realizing there is no one but ME, MYSELF to take care of myself.

May God help me..............through this and through it all.

Hi Lou Lou

I am glad that you have this forum to vent. It is very important to have someone to talk to. I know what you mean about frustration.

I think you better check with your doctor before taking the probiotic. Just because I am able to take it, your doctors might have a different take on it. If the kefir is helping you that is great. For some reason, I do not do well on kefir. Maybe because of the sugar? The dairy in the kefir makes me cough so that is the main reason why I cut it out.

About your Prograf, I wish you lived nearby as I have a lot to share for free. My dosage was cut and now I have extra.

I would simply mail your payment with receipt (make a few copies) and send this to your insurance company with a letter requesting reimbursement. I have done that before.

As sick and tired as you feel, try as hard as you can to stay calm. Of course vent out your feelings in anyway that you can. The end result is your health and you know what stress does to your health. It can become a never ending cycle if we allow our minds to go back to the stresses each day and it is very hard for the body to heal.

When you write your letter to the insurance companies, include reference numbers to all your phone contacts at the insurance company and you will see you will get what you want.

I found that when I was extra sweet to the people on the phone, they would bend over backward for me. I always ask for a name and reference number. One lady was nice enough to give me her private phone extension. At some insurance companies they did not allow this.

I had to fight over a claim that cost thousands of dollars and after a year, I won.

I am here:-)

This is very uncomfortable to deal with as you said frustrating, just put this into the transplant perspective that stuff does happen. You are on top of it all and that is a GREAT THing to be proud of.

God Bless You
