Hi Risa,
you are a Donna Eden fan :-)
I just took a look in the energy medicine book and found a wounderful standing exercise on page 124 ff. - its a bit challenging with weak legs and short breath - but it feels good afterwards! That is Yoga!

Yes, I still do practice some Yoga - but only for myself. I'm not teaching classes at the moment.

Nostril breathing is very nice, yes.
Best is alternate nostril breating. close the right nostril with the thumb of the right hand, and breath in through the left nostril, than close that with the index-finger of the right hand breath out through the right nostril. Breath in right, exhale left. Inhale left, exhale right. and so on..

The very best is this little breathing meditation for "deep insights":
Hold your hands in front of you, both palms facing towards the middle of your chest, on the level of the heart - 10cm away from the chest. You relaxd lay the left hand in the right - thumbs crossing.

Your mental Focus is on the point between the eyebrows, eyes half closed.
3 minutes up to 11 min.
Repeat the following breathing circle:

Inhale through the nose
Exhale through the nose

Inhale through the pointed mouth, as if you want to wistle
Exhale through the pointed mouth as if you want to wistle (don't mind if a wistle sound is to hear)

Inhale through the nose,
Exhale through the pointed mouth

Inhale through the pointed mouth
Exhale through the nose.

Repeat :-)

You'll feel the benefit immediately.
It fills you up with life-energy we often lack through our normal breathing.
And through the breathing sequence, crossing Hands and thumbs this life-energy works compensational on the two hemispheres of the brain.
----
Yes, there are also intense breathing exercises in Kundalini Yoga like "breath of fire".
----
I never heard of this focusing on navel and up to rooth of the mouth.
What shall it be good for?
I know that it is good, if you are for example a teacher and talk in front of a undisciplined class, to speak from the navel. Gives your words more impact., makes people listen to you ;-)
Best would be to speak simultaniously from the navel and from the heart.
----
Yes, the navel is your enrgy center. lots of emotional stuff is to found there. Especially anger, aggression and so on can be found - or not found if your navel center is not developed enough - there.

That is all very interesting stuff!

Love - Frank
