Buddies looks fine, but Friends.... not so much. The pretty background bitmap overwhelms the messages and text.

I have to use chrome or firefox to see friends. All my other browsers show only the background bitmap image. (Dolphin, Opera, Boat, etc.)
BTW, Firefox and Dolphin both support Roboform Password mamagers, so you don't have to remember any passwords. And Boat now has a floating browser that floats about the current display.

I am using a Google Nexus 10 Android Tablet running the latest version of Android 4.4 KitKat. 10" High resolution screen

I am also using a LG Android Smartphone with 4.3" screen, running Android 4.04 (Ice Cream Sandwich) on StraightTalk. Straighttalk costs $45/month for UNLIMITED data, voice, messaging, internet, etc. and mine uses Verizon towers, which are ubiquitous here in the NY Metro Area.

Personally, I am an Apple bigot, meaning I hate apple and will not buy any of their hardware which all use proprietary software and hardware. You even have to buy special chargers, for goodness sake.
Apple has a small part of the hardware market in all these devices. Android, which will run an many different manufacturers devices has the lion's share of both smartphone and tablets, so even though Apple gest the most press, they have many less users.

Hi Jay :-)
Thank you for your input.

On my husband's tablet, the background on Friends is blurred. You can see all text but you cannot see photos because of the java script. Ning, the company who is behind this platform on Transplant Friends is upgrading their service very soon.

The new staging site that I am working on is
http://transplantfriends1.ning.com Once I upload all the data, I will make the switch but not until all their issues are ironed out.

It might be another three months before the change.

In the meantime, the traffic on Friends has doubled.

I do not know what to do now. The members love the background images.

You might want to have your hubby install Firefox or Chrome on their tablet. These are better browsers than the ones that come with the tablets anyway. I believe that these are supported on all OS's, but I am not sure. Just look for them on the stores where you get your apps. They are free.

If people are happy with the pretty backgrounds, then you might just recommend that those with problems switch to a different browser, and use Wi-Fi whenever possible.

Personally, I'm a fan of the old Yahoo model. Make the pages simple with as simple a background as possible and no programming scripts which make so many computers crash. This is especially true for people without unlimited speed and bandwidth. Using cellular internet can be not that far away from the old dial-up speeds.

Yes. Ning site looks GOOD!. Much better on a small screen and I also like the mobile page ( transplantfriends.com/m ) I still like the regular site better on a full size desktop or notebook PC, however.

This morning I even had more luck on the regular site, but there were times when I saw no text at all and just the bitmap.

It will be great when the mobile site goes to the ning site when you select desktop mode.

Wow! What a lot of work! All the platforms, browsers, options, etc. Wears me out just thinking about it all. Sure glad I don't create web sites anymore.

That is good to hear :-)

The ning team has been working on this new upgrade for a long time.

I love changing backgrounds as design, color is something that I love to do.
