Hello everyone.

We've recently discovered that some members are trying to reply to our automated emails.

These notifications are delivered to your email address when you receive a private message from anther user.

Replies to these emails will not reach the person that you want to contact. There are links in these email notifications to reply to the other person but replying to the email will not reach them.

Also: you may select from which forums you want, and do not way, to be notified of new posts.

When you click on your Profile Editor (top left inside the forum) you have the option to check off the topics that can be automatically delivered to your email address.

Some users have chosen to receive notifications but probably are not receiving them. Here's why:

FIRST: this only concerns emails from the address forums@transplantbuddies.org.

The Transplant Buddies email account at forums@transplantbuddies.org is totally automated, and there is NO ONE there to answer or reply to emails. (So anything sent to this address just bounces back and sits in the inbox and goes unanswered).

This account handles things like email notifications of new posts sent to you, notifications of Private Messages received, things like that.

So here is how you can help:

1: If you receive a notification of a Private Message from forums@transplantbuddies.org, DO NOT CLICK "REPLY" with that Email.

It will not reach the person that you want to contact. Instead Click the link in the email that instructs you how to reply to the individual. This is an example of what this sentence states within the private message you will receive.

"If you would like to reply to this message by sending a private message of your own through the discussion board, use the following link to send your reply:"

2: If you want to receive notifications of new posts on the forums, in most cases, you MUST ADD forums@transplantbuddies.org to your list of contacts and approved email senders.

This is especially true of mail accounts with hotmail.com. live.com, yahoo.com, aol.com and any other webmail interface. In some cases, hotmail and live.com will ignore ALL automated mails so in that case the only option is to use a different email account from a different provider. (Yahoo mail may flag the first two or three as junk but if you click the "not spam" button, it will generally deliver the mail that you want.)

Some ISP's, especially earthlink.com have a feature that flags all email as spam and sends another automated email to the sender, requiring the sender to click a link and the recipient to accept the email before any email is delivered. In the case of an automated email there is no 'sender' there to click the email for approval.

If you DO NOT want all the notices of new forum posts, go to your Edit Profile on the forums page (top left in blue box) on transplantbuddies and Uncheck all the topics in the Email Notification area.

Also note: if you receive a notification of a new post to the forums, you cannot post a reply on the forums by replying to that email notification. You can only post to the forums from the forums section of www.transplantbuddies.org.

3: Finally, read ALL the fine print at the bottom of all automated emails, since they generally have a note at the bottom saying something like "DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL".

4. If what we have described sounds confusing please email me at txbuddiesemail@gmail.com or reply to this thread.

I'm bumping this back up to the top of the list because not everyone noticed it the first time.

If you use AOL.COM or HOTMAIL.COM or LIVE.COM or any other webmail interface, please add the address forums@transplantbuddies.org to your list of approved contacts.

Otherwise the notifications of new posts will be bounced back by your email server.

These "undeliverable" emails clog up the our server's Inbox and make it very difficult for us to determine emails from folks that might really need assistance. Sometimes I have to filter through a hundred "undeliverable" emails to locate the one email that really needs attention.

If you set up your profile to get notifications of new posts and you are not receiving them, it's not because we are not sending them, it is only because your email provider is rejecting them.

I really need your cooperation in this matter. It's an easy thing for you to do, and it's just common sense. If you want to receive automated emails from our server informing you of new posts or replies to your posts, you MUST do this if your email system rejects automated emails.

I'd really appreciate your cooperation.

Hi John

Thank you for writing. I just received an email from a member who requested that she no longer receives reminders. She will remain a member.

I do not subscribe to this email reminder system myself. I rather join in and see what is on the blue screen in front of my eyes.

We all have our own system. I would imagine if you had an Iphone, receiving email updates would be a good thing.

I just checked my bounced emails from the email notification database
that sends emails to members each time a message is posted.

Many of you are replying by email to posts. This system is not a listserv and does not work this way.

Please come back to the website to post your messages. I feel badly that many of you have wrote messages without any feedback.

best regards
Rise'
