Anyone else here living with a low titer of a DSA? I have a pesky Class I that shows up on my HLA panels at 6%. I've had Rituxan early on which seemed to get rid of it for a period of time, but it reappears. Since my lung function has been stable for some time, they aren't treating it right now, just wondering what others have experienced. Thanks. Here's me and my daughter last week at Vernal Falls,Yosemite. 1.2 miles uphill! ..and the whole family. Cross that off the bucket list!

Hi AJS I love your photos! Without mentioning anyone's name you and I have a mutual friend that was transplanted at Duke. You can write to him or write to me and I will forward your email to him. I am sure you can both talk. By the way, how does a patient know if they have DSA? Please educated us.

AJS, Love your photos ... can't help you with your question, but just to chime in ... I proposed to my wife at that overlook with Half-Dome in the background ... ;) We had brunch afterwards at the Ahwahnee Lodge and I recall the waiter asking us why we were smiling so much ... and we have never stopped. Yosemite is marvelous. yours,

Hi Rise', If it's who I think you mean, I need to call him. Dr Palmer at Duke told me a few weeks ago he went thru a rough patch. I thought all transplantees knew about DSAs? It's an antibody that your body can develop, that is targeted specifically at your new organ. If you have it before hand, it can be the cause of an HLA mismatch. There is a certain level or number of DSAs that can be an acceptable risk, but in general you don't want to have any. That's why your blood work contains an HLA panel (Human Leukocyte Antigen). http://journals.lww.com/transplantjournal/Abstract/2005/02151/Donor_Specific_Antibodies_in_Allograft_Rejection_.6.aspx

Nice Russ! I could have sat at that overlook for an hour soaking in the glory that is nature. We totally lucked out; I was talking to a client in San Francisco who happened to be friends with the PR Director of Yosemite, and he got us a room at Ahwahnee for two nights on a month's notice! (heard it's booked over a year ahead) AND, my friend in Palo Alto who we stayed with scored tickets to the US Open on the Friday. Followed Tiger, Phil and Bubba for three holes. Seems like karma is repaying me for the rough times.....
