Hi all! I've been diagnosed with an incisional hernia for several years but wondering if its time for an operation to correct it. I am increasingly uncomfortable on my right side after activities like mowing the lawn for a while. Bending is taking effort, feel like an overstuffed mattress. What kind of symptoms did anyone else get from this type of hernia? I have to drive about 4 hours to my transplant center so not psyched about the appt's leading up to an actual operation. Dave |

Hi Dave, I have an incisional hernia, too. It is a lump in the middle of my stomach about the size of a golf ball. My doctor doesn't want to do anything about it (i.e., corrective surgery) unless it gets much bigger, since it's right now not causing any pain or problems.. I actually have a good friend who had one like mine from having gastric bypass surgery, but hers was the size of a tennis ball. She had the corrective surgery for it done in February. She said that it was very painful because her abdominal muscles had moved over to the side of her belly, so the doctor had to stretch them back to where they were supposed to be. She also had a piece of wire mesh put in over the location of the hernia. Although she did have pain from the surgery, she was up and moving within a few weeks. Please let us know how your surgery goes. I'd like to hear about your experience in case I have to go through this as well. Wendy
