I had my transplant 18 months ago and did remarkably well. However the last lab work showed very high liver enzymes agt and ast. My doctor increased my cell cept which had been lowered about 4 weeks before and last week the lab work showed a decrease in the enzymes but they are still higher than normal. I also take prograf and both drugs dosages have been slowly lowered over time. Just wondered if anyone experienced this and what you did and what the results were. I actually feel fine but going for an ultrasound tues. |

I am glad you are feeling well. In my experience, the enzyme numbers fluctuated for the few years after the transplant. It takes a while for your liver to 'settle in'. My Prograf and Cellcept had to be adjusted frequently for the first 3 years because my enzyme numbers refused to settle down. Currently, my medicine has not been adjusted for more than 2 years. Best of luck

I only know that you can feel just fine and still have very high liver enzymes as that was my case before I ever knew I had a bad liver. Since transplant 10 months ago I have had pretty even ALT/AST numbers even when they cut the cellcept in half. Have been on 200 mg Cellcept twice a day for 4 months now. Tacrolimus seems to keep climbing when I take .05 prograf twice a day but drops too low if they cut it to once a day . Liver enzymes stay pretty level no matter what meds I'm on. What do most of you over 1yr. post transplant have as your tacrolimus level?

Thanks everyone. Sounds like its all about the Rx dosages. I am on 1.5 mg prograf AM and 1.5 PM and was on 500 mg cellcept AM and 250 cellcept PM when my enzymes spiked. I had only been reduced by 1 cellcept and it only took 3 weeks for the enzymes to spike. Labs were normal and 2 weeks later very high. they have already started to go down I am now taking 750 mg of cellcept AM and 750 PM. To Bobby, my tacrolimus level is between 7 and 10 generally. |

Mine are still high even after a year and a half of post transplant. My drs assured me that they will always be slightly elevated...cuz after all, we are supposed to keep the livers we are born with, not get new ones, so the body is always going to be slightly weird with it. No worries |
