We got the call at 1230 Saturday Morning! He was out of surgery around 1:45 in the afternoon and has been doing amazing ever since! He has been up and walking around a lot since about Sunday morning. Eating regular food for dinner Sunday night. He's just doing amazing. A few hiccups along the way. His bilirubin is a little high but they said that's common around this time that the common bile duct is probably a little swollen. So they are going to run labs in the morning and then if they look good he will be discharged tomorrow morning! I can't believe it! Transplanted on Saturday discharged on Thursday!

Unreal isn't it? I was told I may be in the hospital 3 months and in rehab 6 months, but I was out in 3 1/2 weeks. I am 5 months post transplant and I feel better than I have felt in 10 or more years. Tell him to take things easy, take his meds as directed, listen to his Doctors and Coordinator, and enjoy life. I am already doing things I have not been able to do in years, things that others take for granted. Before my transplant, I had not walked through a grocery store in over a year.

How wonderful! I am glad that he is doing so well so quickly. I hope he may continue to recover swiftly and soon be able to be home. May this transplant open and/or reopen many doors for him. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers. Many hugs.

Thank you all so much! He is taking it very easy (he was discharged yesterday afternoon) I was really scared at our first night "home" since it now falls on our shoulders instead of the nurses. But we did really good, pills and vitals right now time, and again this morning. The doctor that did the transplant told us to go out to dinner tonight (it's our 1 year anniversary tonight) which I'm honestly terrified about. We were talking about how he feels today, and it actually made me cry because he said for once he is in no pain (besides the incision) no nausea and that he feels more clear headed than he has ever felt before.

WOW. So happy for both of you. Liver transplant, then planning on going out to dinner a week later is AMAZING. I thought my recovery was great but I wasnt' ready for that. Plus my Dr. told me not to go out in public for a while because of germs while I was on high does of anti rejection drugs. Even recommended to keep visitors at a minimum due to germs. That was 2 yrs ago and I continue to do really well. Every situation is different and its great to hear a success story like yours.

Wishing both of you the best on his amazing recovery and recuperation. Very impressive.

Thank you guys for your kind words.

health journey, that's what I thought, I thought it was way too soon. But at his first post tx clinic appointment yesterday he asked his doctor if he could go to Dennys for breakfast and then to the mall, his doctors answer....yes! I of course had a panic attack the whole time we were there, and he wore a mask and I think I used a whole little bottle of hand sanitizer! I hate that the doctors tell him yes when I just want to put him in a bubble lol.
