How are you "indulging"? I would think that any "indulging" you are planning on doing should be run by your tx center. Food-I gained 20 pounds right after transplant. had my tx on October 30, 2007. By February, 2008, I had gained all of that weight. So I hit the gym like a true gym rat. It took some time, but I lost the weight I put on and then some. I weigh 30 pounds less than I did after transplant now. Drink-I was told that I could have one or two once in awhile. Every transplant center is different, so find out how they feel about an occasional drink before you actually do it.
There are not too many things in life worth working my butt off for, but my health is one of them

Hi and welcome. I think the occasional indulgence is ok, but it depends on what you are indulging in. I too gained a lot of weight after tx and it took a while to take it off. I didn't drink before so it's not a problem now, but I do have the occasional glass of wine for a toast.

Congrats on going back to work. I wasn't able to due to other health problems.

Hi KC, it's GREAT to hear from someone new, as I am only 5 weeks out, and just got home to Alaska after being in Seattle for 6 weeks. Now to see if I can get fast labs here in the wilderness whereas in Seattle we could get the results in one day.

I am also on Prograf and myfortic. I gained 25+ pounds the few days In was in the hospital, blew up like a Pillsbury dough woman, from the prednisone, I think, which Seattle Swedish discontinues as soon as you leave the hospital. And of course the myfortic gave me about 2 weeks of diarrhea, so I lost all of that weight and some of the weight I put on from PD dialysis. Now, I am going to be careful and not gain anything, as I have heard so many stories of gaining.

Yes, I am not sure about indulging..... just what it is, I suppose. I feel like eating whole grains and beans, and normal foods is indulging at this point, after the strict diet of dialysis. I gotta get some muscle tone now....

Welcome!!!

Heather
