Hello buddies, I seem to have an issue with BP , a year ago the Tx doctor put me on Diltiazem XC at 180 mg but over the year the BP was still high at about 155/90 . well last week for my 3 month checkup did a BP and it was still at 156/90 so doctor bumps the medications up to 360 mg every night. Now couple of things come in play , the BP is averaging 148/89 to 150/90 and secondly this medication makes me tired s hell plus anyone else had BP issues and this medication? Anyone on Natural remedy and other BP medication that seem to help without ridiculous side effects?

Kuldip, Have you tried asking your doctor to switch you to another BP drug? There is a wide range of anti-hypertension medication around and not all work well with everyone. Some are ineffective for certain people, whereas other drugs give some people nasty side effects. While for others, the drugs work well without any issues. Try asking your your doctor if he has other BP drugs that you can take that might work better. Some doctors use a combination of 2 drugs if the BP is really stubborn.

Kuldip, I'm using metoprolol and amlodipine for BP control - see if your doctor thinks those are ok. I also was using clonidine and am switching between these to see what is the most effective with the least side effects. Amlodipine lowers your systolic pressure (the high number) while metoprolol and clonidine lower the diastolic pressure. Good luck - keep pounding on your doctor or switch doctors if you can't get your questions answered. |

I'm in the same boat Kuldip. I've gone through amlodipine and bisprolol and they are not budging my BP, which is about 155/100. I'm hoping my doc keeps switching me every 2 weeks or so until something works. It's weird how the BP just jumped up from my normal 135/75 and is stuck here. I blame the drugs.

I should mention that the last time I had a bout of 155/100 I drastically increased my fruit & vegetable intake and my BP dropped to my baseline. Unfortunately that didn't work this time.

What kind of side effects are you getting from Amlodipine and Bisprolol ? Seeing the Doctor and i want to get some options from him plus i also like to research what i am putting into my system. Right now not too pleased with the Diltiazem. Cruizin , my BP was stable right after the TX and just started going up just last year from 120/80 initial to 135/85 and now the 150/90 . So let me know the side effects please : Bill and Cruizin On the Naturals Also have anyone tried CoQ enzyme or Apple Cider Vinegar?

Amlodipine tends to make your body collect water in the lower extremities otherwise i notice no symptoms. Walking 3-4 miles enables your feet and legs to pump this liquid out of the legs and feet. It's hard to isolate other symptoms since i take so many drugs and the immunosuppresive drugs seem to dominate how you feel. |

I did not get edema from amlodipine, but I've never really had a problem with edema. It did give me crazy anxiety attacks. Bisprolol ... haven't been on it long, but it hasn't lowered my BP yet. A lot of guys seem to have impotence problems on it. Hopefully I'm not one of them. I've forewarned my girlfriend though! BTW I discovered askapatient.com. Lots and lots of reviews on all the BP drugs I'm interested in.
