1.st thanks for read this thread I'm a 16 years old kid, and I have had my transplant 3.5 years ago, a kidney transplant. Now, I'm at the gym, and I want to take some supplements to lose weight, which I've gained after the transplant. but, I'm not sure if they will harm the kidney...I check the Ingredients on google, and only one ingredient, causes to increase of a certain thing which can cause kidney stones...now, im really confused and mostly afraid. should I take those supplements (except the one I've described above.) Thanks. |

What are you taking in the way of supplementation? Or should I say what do you want to take? I take supplements in the way of whey protein and branch chain amino acids, but I would be willing to bet that your transplant team, if they have a brain in their head would tell you NOT to take anything to make you lose weight. I am almost 58 years old. I have been hitting the gym for a long time to get off the weight I picked up after transplant. I got the weight off and I do not have the customary moon face, but I worked hard for it. Son, you can do it too. You don't want to risk anything that will harm that kidney. Just my two cents. By the way, having worked hard to take the weight off, I will not be gaining the weight back any time soon. Good luck!

Hi Slavic, This is an easy question to answer. You should discuss your plans with your TX team. On staff should be a nutritionist, who can help you with specific issues and develop a plan that's right for you. I wish you good luck in reaching your goals. |
