You should never measure BP in your fistula arm.

Hi Ivy, Sometimes a stenosis can develop or some other condition that affects blood pressure in the "fistula" arm. If you are not having strength issues in that arm, you might just ignore it. If you are very concerned, I would speak to your TX team and possibly be evaluated by a vascular surgeon. In all cases, I hope you stay health for years to come. |

Hi Ivy, In my case, I was just evaluated because the size/diameter of the "fistula" arm had increased over the last few months, almost 12 yrs post transplant (yes, it IS still working.) After an ultrasound and vascular consult, I was told not to worry about it and it was most likely due to the fact this was also the side where my tesio catheters for dialysis were placed. Better to be safe and sure what's going on. Good luck. |

Kidneyboy---Wow! 12 years and its still working . mine quite 13 months post-TX. the only thing that my fistula did other that give the docs some place to put the needls was to make my breast on that side a half cup bigger than the other side
