dear keith asked some online lab for their take on things this is the reply. Dear Ivan, thanks for using the American society for clinical laboratory Science( ASCLS)consumer site. This is a free site staffed by volunteer laboratory professionals. thanks for giving such a good history. Actually, your red cell count and your hemoglobin are slightly below normal and because of that I beleive your bone marrow is working harder, pumping out red cells. These prematurely released red cells are slightly larger and that is most likely the cause of your slightly elevated MCV. It could be drug induced, but I think my first hypothesis is most likely the one. |

Very interesting .. so I guess the question is why HB & rbc are below normal (they are a bit lower than mine) even though ferritin is almost the same. Also I've previously found that gp tested creat and alkphos both typically come out at about 15 higher than at Bristol .. dunno whether Bristol is low or Musgrove high though.. but I doubt it makes much difference. My rbc runs about 4.3-4.6 while my mcv is typically 97-99 for the last year or so its a bit of a different situation from yours. Looking back further though it does look as is my mcv runs in the mid - hi 80s when my alkphos runs in the 70s ... not sure what conclusion can be drawn from that tho! I guess if your bone marrow is 'overworking' then maybe that why your so tired ? all very complicated !! |
