I'm sorry you haven't been well enough to continue to work. I'm hoping you will be able to regain your health and feel fantastic. I was never able to return to work even after my transplant due to other issues. Best of luck.

It is one of the hardest things, but you need to take care of you and when you get better you will find another job. I am not sure what your situation is but if you are in esrf apply for social security disability. it is a simple phone call to your local office to start the process. I did back in Oct, when I could no longer work. SS is based upon your health status and time you worked. I think SSI is based upon need and I really dont know much about that but if you need information about SS I am many others can help you here because many of us have received it at some point or are now. But I can tell you if you they make a decision in your favor it takes a while to receive it. I went in Oct and did not receive till April, and that was a cut and dry case, which many aren't. I hope you feel better soon. Wishing you the best.

things are different in the UK i will probably move onto ESA which replaced the Uk's old incapacity benefit....i am not really ill enough or qualify for the new tight disablility benefit but things tend to move pretty quickly in the UK 2-3 weeks from claim. LUckily the UK pay for your prescriptions if you are unemployed or on a low income so that is not a worry for me here.

From experience, the hardest thing will be not dwelling on all the things that aren't going right with your health without the distraction of a job and the social isolation that may come along with not working. Take the time you need to heal but try to do something, no matter how small, that brings you joy everyday.

It's not that your friends don't care, it's just that they get caught up in their own lives. Best wishes on this next part of your journey.

Were you terminated due your chronic medical issues? If so that is a violation of the ADA and you really should talk to the EEOC.

The same thing happened to me a couple years ago and I got a six figure settlement out of my former employer.
