So I will be heading down to Minneapolis to have the enteric conversion of my pancreas. I was in the hospital again last week due to bleeding from my bladder. This bladder hookup for the pancreas transplant is really not working for me. I ended up having to have 4 units of blood to bring me back up. I'm a bit nervous about the surgery, but it's going to solve all my uti problems and a lot of my stomach issues too (the constant bicarb is upsetting my tummy). So I've got a few of weeks to regain my strength and then it's back under the knife (on the 24th). Wish me luck.

Hi Cora,
Like all of us, the waiting is the hard part. Trying to remain calm and relaxing can be a trial, but it is what is most important. You have been through a lot and will handle this "bump in the road" too. Good luck and concentrate on felling better soon.

Thresea, what was the recovery like? They have told me that it is about the same as the initial surgery. That wasn't too bad for me and I was out of the hospital in a week. Usually after general anasthetic I am much sicker so hopefully I will have the same result.

At least a week or more seven days no food...it's mind over stomach..haha then it's the time to get you to go to the bathroom after seven days of no food, sorry to be so blunt. The incision was in the same place as the original just a little higher and to the right..I kind of have a indentation where they put it, no big deal. I did find this surgery not easy but a little better then the first.

thanks for the good wishes everyone. I've been rescheduled again, and will go under the knife on Friday in the morning. I met with the surgeon yesterday and as always I have complete confidence in her. She is great. I am a bit weak right now because of stomach issues and not eating well, but this surgery is necessary andn will probably help me in the long run, even though the recovery may take a little while.
