Hi. What do your creatinine levels typically run post transplant? I'm 15 years post transplant. Mine ran 1.4-1.6 for the first several years after transplant. Over the last year or two an occasional 1.7 popped up, but it always went back down after adjusting my tacrolimus. The last time I had blood work done, though, it was 1.8. Is this normal? I know it is a high level, but is it something to be majorly concerned about? I am waiting for my doctor to call me back and let me know what he wants to do about it, but I found this forum so I thought I'd see if I could get any feedback from it while I wait! Thanks! |

My cr. levels have fluctuated significantly over the years (I'm 11.5 years out). Because I've bounced all over the place, I only get a bit nervous if I start getting "creatinine creep". This is basically where your levels go gradually up and up consistently over several months. For many years my baseline was about 1.8 or 1.9. Then due to other stuff my baseline went down to about 1.2 for a while (due to weight loss, inability to eat, etc) and now I've settled for the last year around 1.5. I've had levels as high as 2.7, but never anything less than 1.2. So keep an eye on it, stay hydrated, and I suspect that maybe you doc will send you for more frequent labwork. How often are you going now?

Hi. Sorry it has taken so long to answer your question. I've tried posting about five times, and it didn't work. Hoping it works this time! I am going about every six months or so. I did get a UA and BMP done today. The UA showed 3+ protein and small traces of blood. I'm still waiting to get my creatinine level. I'm guessing I have a 24 hour urine in my future lol! Anyway, thanks for the reply. Good luck with your transplant! |

Thanks Kat. Because I'm on steroid avoidance, I go for labs every month. It was bumped up to every 2 months or so, but because I have a port and have to have it flushed every month anyway, I get the labs drawn. So I am used to fluctuating values. Keep us posted on how things progress. Hope this is just a small bump in the road.
