Hi all,

I am new to this site and came across a few helpful threads recently, so thought I'd post some questions which I can get some help/advice on.

I had my Kidney & Pancreas transplant almost 3 weeks ago (17th June 2016). It all went well and I was out of the hospital 11 days post op. I am now recovering at home attending transplant renal clinic x3 times a week to monitor bloods and Meds.

I am a 28 year old who is quite petite (about 5ft weighing 42kg - yep small!). I had TY1 Diabetes for 19 years and was on dialysis for a year and an half until I got my transplant. Generally before my op I was very active (gym x6 times a week, eat well etc).

I am very very grateful for my transplant however have a couple of concerns/ questions:

1) Before my transplant I held some (little) body fat but my tummy was a lot flatter. At the moment I look 4 months pregnant and wanted to know when and if this will go down?? I do exercise and believe this isn't excess fat. I do feel quite tight and bloated/heavy. My staples have been removed and the scar is healing well. Bloods are very good and doctors all seem happy. I am a little constipated (next question) but can't wear any of my usual tops as it just looks like I'm expecting. Is there anything I can do to help? The surgeons said it will go down, but as I'm quite petite and had two extra organs I won't ever be flat-flat. I'm sure you can understand, I'm a 28 year old girl and find it very hard looking this way. Please advise.

2) Anything to help with constipation? I am feeling quite tight mainly at the top of the tummy. X-ray showed I had a lot of constipation and gas trapped. I am currently taking Lactlose (help soften) and also a strong laxative tablet twice a day - but hasn't really worked. I open my bowls but not as often or as much as normal. I still feel I have a lot of trapped gas too which feels good when relived. Is this all normal post transplant? And anything I can try instead? (Tried depositries, Senna and Enema).

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Avani :-)
