Hi, I know a friend who is donating her one of her kidneys to her husband next week, could you please give some advice for me to relay to her.
How long is the recovery time for her?
What are the things she should do after she gets home? The do's and don't.....
Thanks so much.

Hi Rita. That is wonderful that your friend is giving her husband such a gift!! I had the open procedure 12 years ago when I donated. I assume your friend will be having the lap. procedure so you may want to check out the Post Donation surgery advice at the top of this page. It was made by Lady Di who also donated a kidney to her husband.

Oops! I should have looked here first! Rita, I just posted on the kidney forum! Thanks Heather! You have such a good memory!
I had just realized when I did the other post that I do have a link below my signature to the article and also my donation story if that helps.
It is a little different with spouses, since both of you are down at the same time - a very precious time together, but physically challenging! If something dropped on the floor, neither of us could bend down to pick it up!

Thank you so much for taking the time to post on this thread. I wanted to tell you both my friend and her husband are doing well. The transplant took place this morning. I hear he putting out urine and she is doing well too. I am so happy for both of them. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and information. :-)
